It has good hot water/steam resistance, excellent amine resistance, and good compression set properties. The maximum suggested service temperature is 288°C (550°F). It is not recommended for use in organic or inorganic acids at high temperatures.

VEEGUM® Ultra Magnesium Aluminum Silicate is a unique acidic smectite clay that produces dispersions in the 4.2-5.2 pH range for optimum compatibility with the naturally acidic pH of the skin. VEEGUM Ultra is the easiest of all the grades to hydrate and has a unique white color. VEEGUM Ultra is for use in any low pH formulation and is particularly useful in sunscreens, acne treatments, and exfoliants. VEEGUM Ultra is a highly purified smectite clay suspension stabilizer, emulsion optimizer and rheology modifier. VEEGUM Ultra also reduces the slippery or sticky feel of gums and polymers, while providing a silky, tack-free feel in topical preparations. This smectite clay is synergistic with common thickeners such as VANZAN® xanthan gum and CMC. These combinations will provide greater thickening, stabilizing and suspending properties than those developed by the individual components of the mixture.

In addition, it has excellent overall chemical resistance (see chart below). This cream colored product is easily identifiable when selecting an O-ring material for harsh chemical plant services. This material has excellent mechanical properties and is a top choice for both static and dynamic sealing applications. A maximum service temperature of 225°C is suggested while short-term excursions to higher temperatures are permissible.
