The company was founded in 1949 as a manufacturer of high performance industrial coatings. Kardol was founded in 1939 to manufacture car appearance products. By 1980, Kardol had over 100 car appearance products and dominated its market within 100 miles of Cincinnati, Ohio. A survey at that time showed that 92% of the new car dealerships in that market used Kardol car appearance products. In 1980, H.A. (“Sam”) Bedwell bought the company from its two chemist founders. After his purchase, Sam developed a full line of repair products for the automotive paint, body and equipment aftermarket (called the “PBE” market), the marine, hardware paint sundries and consumer markets. Sam’s son Mark joined the company in 1981 and became President in 1982. After Sam’s death in 2008, Mark looked for a partner to help him run the business. In 2009, Eric Kahn became CEO of Kardol. Today, Kardol manufactures in the USA and distributes a wide range of products for the autobody, marine and industrial repair markets including masking paper, resin, reducers, solvents, thinners, primers and hardeners as well as car appearance products. "Izel Kimya A.Ş. is a company established in 1996 to meet demands of paint and varnish manufacturers by producing alkyd resin, which is a type of synthetic resin that is an important raw material used in paint industry. First, the factory was constructed in Pendik/Istanbul location with the capacity of 2000 tons/year. The demand of the market naturally created supply and at first our company reached the capacity of 1250 tons/ year varnish production (cellulose with polyurethane filling and garish). After that in 1998 the polyester resins’ capacity reached 1620 tons/year. The capacity and customer portfolio increased continuously by new researches and developments.
