"Akron Dispersions was founded in 1958 by Al Bosshard, a chemist at Firestone Tire & Rubber Company. Firestone was producing synthetic latex for its customers but required waterbased chemical dispersions to vulcanize the latex. Mr. Bosshard saw a need and began the company with the help of his sons and a single attritor. Their first operation began in the basement of an old building in downtown Akron, Ohio. Today, the company is located on 50 scenic acres with 2 lakes and abundant wildlife, in west Akron.
