Special Properties and Uses
  • BECKOPOX™ EH 2189w is a highly reactive amine hardener for waterbased 2K epoxy coatings on metallic substrates.
  • It is used together with solid epoxy resin dispersions like e. g. BECKOPOX™ EP 384w. Coating systems for metallic substrates can be formulated with excellent humidity and salt spray resistance. The use of 70-80% of the stoichometric curing agent quantity has given best results.
  • BECKOPOX™ EH 2189w is highly reactive. Very fast drying and fast through curing coatings with at the same time excellent anticorrosion properties are obtained.
  • The fast drying properties of coatings with BECKOPOX™ EH 2189w support formulation of textured paints.
Processing Information

A blend of 100,0g BECKOPOX™ EP 384w/53WAMP and 14,1 g BECKOPOX™ EH 2189w/50WA has a processing time at 23°C of approx. 60 min. The end of processing time can not be seen by an increase of viscosity or gelation. Therefore it is necessary to use the material within the stated time limit.

Storage and Handling

At temperatures up to 25°C storage stability packed in original containers amounts to at least 365 days.

BECKOPOX™ EH 2189w tends to crystallization at storage temperatures below 10°C or temperature variations. By this, the product will not suffer any damage, but the necessary regeneration requires extended heat treatment at 40-50°C with continuous stirring. Storage at temperatures less than 10°C must be avoided.

Lowest storage temperature: 10°C

When handling and processing epoxy resins and hardeners, the rules and regulations established by local authorities should be observed. A Material Safety Data Sheet is available on request.
