SETAQUA® 6899 offers improved mechanical and corrosion resistance. This coating performs better when submerged in water and has an opaque finish for increased water resistance. The product has a milky white consistency with no extraneous particles, which gives it a distinctive appearance. SETAQUA® 6899 can help you preserve your metal coatings against corrosion and provide a resilient layer that can withstand exposure to water. This coating is your answer to obtaining waterborne coatings' dependability and durability while satisfying the unique requirements of metal surfaces with a superior finish.

Special Properties and Uses
  • SETAQUA® 6899 is an APEO-free, waterborne acrylic copolymer emulsion especially designed for direct-to-metal applications. For proper film formation at room temperature this unique, hydrophobic acrylic emulsion requires the addition of hydrophobic coalescing agents to enable perfect film formation, good direct-to-metal adhesion and corrosion resistance performance. The use of hydrophilic coalescing agents in combination with SETAQUA® 6899 is not recommended.
  • Dispersing agent ADDITOL XW 6588 is a perfect synergist in combination with SETAQUA® 6899 for the preparation of DTM protective coatings. SETAQUA® 6899 requires the use of flash-rust inhibitors for steel substrates. As chemical nature and concentration of flash rust inhibitor systems may significantly influence dry-wet adhesion properties on metals, a careful selection must be made in this respect.

Advantages:

  • VOC-free binder
  • shear stable
  • very good corrosion resistance performance
  • high and stable gloss in salt spray, gloss reduction in humidity test
  • no need for anticorrosion pigments or organic adhesion promotor/ anticorrosion additives
  • broad adhesion spectrum on various substrates including metals, CED coated metals, plastics (PS, PVC, PMMA), wood and composite materials (HPL) - excellent mechanical properties
  • outstanding early water resistance
  • good blocking resistance, hardness
  • very fast drying
  • suitable for high pigment loading
  • economical grade for temporary corrosion protection

Technical Details & Test Data

Compatibility

In general SETAQUA® 6899 has good compatibility with other anionic and non-ionic WB binders but performance and stability needs to be tested very carefully, especially with respect to corrosion resistance. SETAQUA® 6899 is compatible with a wide range of anticorrosion pigments but stability in the final formulation needs to be tested very carefully.
