UVEKOL® FR-C is a liquid, one-component coating with a faster cycle time and strong impact resistance. This radiation-curable coating has outstanding adherence, making it perfect for ornamental laminates, wallcoverings, finishes, and materials. Furthermore, UVEKOL® FR-C is excellent at specialist coatings for glass, such as coatings for glass and other types of specialty coatings. This transparent liquid coating, which is applied using a radiation cure technique, provides a flexible way to improve a wide range of substrates and surfaces, especially glass.

Performance Characteristics
  • UVEKOL FR-C was developed to confer safety impact resistance to fire resistant ceramic glass. UVEKOL FR-C laminates have successfully been tested in fire tests according to EN1363.
  • Thanks to the use of appropriate acrylate oligomer, UVEKOL FR-C interlayers have good impact resistance. As a consequence, UVEKOL FR-C in a 5/1/5* composition passes the pendulum test according to the standard CPSC ** 16CFR1201 highest category II, or ANSI Z-97.1, class A - category II (CPSC) and class A (ANSI) are the highest drop height, both 48 inches = 121.9 cm.
  • The most commonly used tests for safety performance are pendulum tests. In this approach, a soft body impactor (bag, tires) is swung from a standardized drop height against a vertically positioned test panel. The test simulates a person slipping and falling against a safety glass: a balustrade, banister or facade.
  • * 5/1/5 = 5 mm glass, 1 mm interlayer, 5 mm glass ** CPSC = Consumer Product Safety Commission; ANSI = American National Standards Institute

Cure Method
Processing Information

Simple, 4-Step Process(3) does not require heating or pressure.

  • Cleaning: Wash and dry the lites of glass.
  • Taping: Apply double-sided adhesive tape to the perimeter of one glass lite and assemble the two lites. The tape acts as a dam and provides the required thickness for the UVEKOL FR-C interlayer.
  • Filling: Fill the space between the two lites of glass with UVEKOL FR-C. Since it is pumped in liquid form, UVEKOL FR-C spreads evenly – even between irregular surfaces.
  • Curing: Curing begins only when you place the glass under UV lamps (black light), giving greater control over the process. Cure time is typically 20 minutes.

Do not use UVEKOL MB concentrated color pastes with UVEKOL FR-C.
