Performance Characteristics

SAFETY

Glass laminated with a 0.030” UVEKOL S interlayer meets ANSI Z97.1-1984 and CPSC 16 CFR 1201 (Cat. I and II) safety standards.

HURRICANE RESISTANCE

UVEKOL S is certified as an interlayer for hurricane resistant glass by Dade County Florida, under NOA# 17-0919.09. Systems using glass laminated with a UVEKOL S interlayer thickness of 0.100” to 0.120” have consistently passed impact and cycling testing according to the following protocols:

  • Miami Dade County, Florida: TAS 201, 202, 203
  • Florida Building code: TAS 201, 202, 203
  • Texas Department of Insurance
  • International Building Code: section 1609
  • ASTM International: ASTM E1886 and ASTM E1996

SOUND CONTROL

The UVEKOL interlayer provides sound deadening properties to the glass and increases the STC rating of the window. A single laminate with UVEKOL S interlayer results in an STC value of 35.

SECURITY

Glass laminated with UVEKOL S, in an appropriate set-up, can provide protection against forced entry and ballistics, for which the following standards apply:

Forced Entry

  • ASTM F1233 – Level I
  • UL 972 – Multiple and High Energy Impact
  • DIN 52290 – Class A1, A2, and A3
  • EN 356 – P1, P2, P3, P4, P5, P6, P7, P8

Ballistics

  • UL 752 – Level 1, Level 2, and Level 3
  • ASTM F1233 – HG1, HG2, HG3, HG4
  • STS38 (Belgium) – A/T8, A2/T8, 5A/T8, BT8, A1/T9, B/T9, C/T9, and D/T9
  • E05/201 (France) – Class 2

Processing Information

Simple, 4-Step Process does not require heating or pressure.

  • Cleaning: Wash and dry the lites of glass.
  • Taping: Apply double-sided adhesive tape to the perimeter of one glass lite and assemble the two lites. The tape acts as a dam and provides the required thickness for the UVEKOL FR-C interlayer.
  • Filling: Fill the space between the two lites of glass with UVEKOL FR-C. Since it is pumped in liquid form, UVEKOL FR-C spreads evenly – even between irregular surfaces.
  • Curing: Curing begins only when you place the glass under UV lamps (black light), giving greater control over the process. Cure time is typically 20 minutes.
