It is used in non-aqueous industrial coatings and powder coatings to improve flow and leveling, reduce pinholes, fisheyes, craters, and orange peel; and to improve substrate wetting. This product also helps maintain or improve substrate adhesion, to defoam and aid in air release, and to facilitate pigment dispersion.

CYCAT® 4045 Catalyst
Function: Catalyst
CYCAT® 4045 Catalyst is an amine blocked para-toluene sulfonic acid catalyst. It is recommended for accelerating the cure response of amino crosslinking resins while providing improved formulation package stability compared with the un-blocked para-toluene sulfonic acid CYCAT 4040 catalyst. It is especially recommended for use with highly alkylated amino crosslinking resins. This product provides excellent stability in high solids and waterborne systems, and in the latter it can be added without causing binder precipitation, which can often occur due to a drop in pH.

CYMEL® 1170 Resin
Function: Crosslinking Agent
CYMEL® 1170 resin is a highly butylated glycoluril crosslinker designed for use in both water and organo-soluble coating systems. Its superior adhesion relative to existing melamine and benzoguanamine crosslinkers provides increased corrosion resistance and flexibility. The better adhesion is not lost after post-forming of parts and exposure of the stressed coating to humidity, steam, dry heat, or weather. This feature makes this product a good candidate for coil of metal decoration enamels and primers. In addition, it releases significantly lower amounts of formaldehyde during the baking process compared to other amino resins.
