- Product Highlights
Maqui berry is a native berry that grows in the wild forests of Patagonia in Chile and Argentina. This berry has been consumed from ancient times by indigenous people and is by nature extraordinarily rich in many nutrients and powerful flavonoid species known as anthocyanins. A specific category of these flavonoids, known as delphinidins is responsible for the very dark purple color of the berries as well as for several health applications.

Market Applications Details References Bone Health A preclinical menopause osteoporosis model could demonstrate that, the oral administration of Delphinidin effectively prevented hormonal induced bone loss. Moriwaki et al, 2014 Bone Health A preclinical menopause bone loss model demonstrated that the oral administration of Delphinol® effectively prevented hormonal induced loss in bone density. In addition it was shown that Delphinol® not only inhibited bone resorption, but also stimulated new bone formation. Nagaoka et al, 2019

Technical Details & Test Data
- Causes for Bone Losses
Unbalanced Bone Homeostasis Causes Bone Loss
Age-dependent bone loss like occuring in menopausal women due to horomonal changes arising from excessive osteoclastogenesis and further results in skeletal
instability.
Risk factors of decreasing bone density- gender, age, body size, family history
- low levels of sex hormones, calcium and vitamin D levels, certain medications, lifestyle/inactivity, smoking, alcohol
Bone Density Balanced
Bone Density Unbalanced
- Delphinol® Mode of Action
An excess in bone dissolving osteoclasts leads to an unbalanced bone metabolism and may result in bone loss over time. Studies could impressively demonstrate, that Delphinol® exhibits a double action mechanism by promoting new bone formation and simultaneously blocking bone resorption.
Increased Number of Osteoclasts due to Several Risk Factors
Delphinol® Increases Bone Mass by Activating Osteoblasts and Inhibiting Osteoclastogenesis
- Delphinol® for Bone Density
A preclinical menopause bone loss model demonstrated, that the oral administration of Delphinol® effectively prevented hormonal induced loss in bone density.
Micro CT analyzes of femurs in ovariectomy bone loss model [Nagaoka et al., 2019]
