Applications & Uses
- Applications
- Recommended Primers
This topcoat is compatible with a wide range of primers. Excellent performance will be obtained when used with any of the AMP-UP™ Series products.
- Surface Preparations
Primer Surface: When applying this product at topcoat on the AMP-UP™ Series products, it is essential to remove all contamination that can affect coating application and interfere with coating adhesion. Inspect the surface of the primer before applying this product and remove dirt, dust, oil, salt, and any other chemical contaminants by washing the surface with a cleaner/degreaser. Mold and mildew areas must be cleaned with a chlorinated cleaner or bleach solution. Rinse thoroughly with fresh water and allow to fully dry. All surfaces must be dry at time of application. Paint solvent should not be used for cleaning or degreasing the primer surface. Verify with technical data sheet and application guide of the AMP-UP™ Series products for over-coatability and the given maximum over-coating interval
Steel: Remove loose rust, mill scale and deteriorated coatings in accordance with hand tool (SSPC-SP-2) or power tool (SSPC-SP-3) cleaning. For optimum corrosion performance, abrasive blast to SSPC-SP-6 Commercial Grade is recommended.
Previously Coated: Previously coated surfaces must be in good condition. Smooth, hard or glossy finishes should be sanded to create a surface profile. To ensure product compatibility, application on a test patch is recommended.
Galvanized Metal: Remove rust by hand or power tool cleaning.
Concrete and Masonry: Remove weak or deteriorated concrete and masonry to obtain sound surface. The dirt and dust can be removed by air-blowing, brushing or scrubbing. Grease and oil can be removed by applying detergents.
