AMPARMOR® 2000

1 of 3 products in this brand
The AMPARMOR® 2000 series is a uniquely engineered microcapsule containing a patented blend of healing agent based on epoxy functionalized polymers, co-crosslinking agents/enhancers and adhesion promoters. These microcapsules are designed for coating applications where coating self-healing is needed for extended coating durability. The AMPARMOR® 2000 series is recommended for use in solvent-based, water-based and powder coatings, and is compatible with most coating resin types including epoxy, polyester, polyurethane and acrylic systems.

Functions: Adhesion Promoter, Coupling Agent, Crosslinking Agent

Chemical Family: Epoxy & Epoxy Derivatives

Compatible Polymers & Resins: Acrylics, Epoxies (EP), Polyesters, Polyurethanes (PU)

Features: Corrosion Resistance, High Durability, Improved Mechanical Resistance, Low Odor, Weather Resistance

General Formulating Guidelines

The AMPARMOR® 2000 series is available in both dry (AMPARMOR® 2013) and wet (AMPARMOR® 2011) forms. For best results, some formulation optimization may be required. When used in dry powder or wet form, it is recommended that the product initially be considered part of the pigment volume content and formulated accordingly. Consult the C-of-A for solids content of the wet form. Dispersion is generally improved for dry microcapsules when the capsules are pre-dispersed in the target coating resin or un-pigmented version of the formulation. Aggressive grinding is not recommended when formulating this product. This additive is to be incorporated into the formulation after the grind phase (typically during let down). For powder coatings applications, the additive should be dry blended into the formulation prior to application of the coating.

Coating Thickness Guide

The AMPARMOR® 2000 series is recommended for coatings and resins that are applied at dry film thicknesses of at least 4-5 times the average particle size of the additive.

Performance

Coating performance enhancements obtained through the use of the AMPARMOR® 2000 series self-healing additive will be dependent on both product add rate and base coating native performance. In an optimized coating formulation, addition of as little as 2.5 wt.% can result in dramatic improvements in both corrosion resistance (on metal substrates) and weather or mechanically induced coating adhesion loss (on metal and wood substrates). Maximum performance is usually obtained at an add rate of 7.5 wt.%.

Storage & Handling

Storage Stability

Store in dry area below 90°F (32°C), keep container closed and out of direct sunlight and any moisture or external contaminants. Always use good manufacturing practices.
