"In 1895 Mr. Flinois and Mr. Colmant built a partnership for the production of technical textile made belts in Belgium (Tournai) and in France (Lille).

After 30 years in the business, Mr. Flinois sells its shares, and the company is renamed Colmant Cuvelier and develops a unique know-how in the design and manufacturing of belts.

The first rubber coated fabrics appear in 1926 in the history of Colmant for the belt industry applications. Colmant Cuvelier quickly understands the importance of acquiring a calendering line for the manufacturing of his rubber sheets and coated fabrics. Firstly dedicated to his own applications, Colmant Cuvelier began to apply its savoir-faire in the design and manufacturing of coated fabrics for manufacturing and selling technical coated textiles for various applications such as hovercraft skirts and fuel flexible tanks.

Then, in 1987 Colmant Cuvelier sells its Belgium manufacturing site to Dunlop and finally in 1990 Zuber Laederich group takes over the company.

As recently as 2010, Colmant Cuvelier board decides to focus on his core business by initiating the creation of a new company specialized in the design and manufacturing of coated fabrics and rubber sheets. The aim of this spin off is to give enough autonomy of action to the team in order to grow the business in the field of high added value and specialized technical textiles coated with polymers. Colmant Coated Fabrics conceived and born as an independent company will leverage the know-how gathered by Colmant Cuvelier during the past 100 years by bringing new solutions to the markets worldwide."

Colmant Coated Fabrics NEOPRENE

Colmant Coated Fabrics NBR/PVC Rubber Sheet is blended with PVC aging resistance is improved. Likewise, flame, ozone and petrol resistance are largely improved.

Colmant Coated Fabrics NBR/PVC RUBBER SHEET

Colmant Coated Fabrics Silicone Sheet are ideal for high and low temperature applications. Electrical properties are excellent and resistance to weathering and ozone attack is outstanding. It is not resistant to super-heated steam. Physical properties are generally low but are at least retained at higher temperatures. Gas permeability is very poor as is resistance to petroleum based fluids. Silicone rubbers are expensive in comparison to most other rubbers. Food Quality/FDA compliant grades are available for use in the food and pharmaceutical industries.

Colmant Coated Fabrics Natural Rubber Sheet is to be considered as the sole non-synthetic rubber. This particular rubber can be recycled for the reutilization, mostly for the manufacturing of tires. New methods of recycling natural rubber are under development to diminish the ecological impact of used tires and other products.

Colmant Coated Fabrics NATURAL RUBBER SHEET

Hypalon® CSM Rubber Sheet is to be considered an improved chloroprene as it offers better chemical resistance, ozone and light resistance, heat aging. Their particular resistance to weathering conditions and the excellent low gas permeability presents CSM as the best option for the manufacture of premium quality inflatable boats and structures for all environments, but most of all in sea environment.

HYPALON® CSM RUBBER SHEET

Colmant Coated Fabrics Nitrile (NBR) Rubber Sheet was first developed in 1941 in a project meant to find an oil resistant rubber. However, NBR’s oil resistance depends on the grade of acrylonitrile. The higher the grade of acrylonitrile the better is resistance to oil and fuel. However, as the grade of acrylonitrile increases, the endurance to low temperatures decreases. NBR has good abrasion resistance nonetheless its physical properties are moderate in comparison with the Natural Rubber.

Colmant Coated Fabrics NITRILE (NBR) RUBBER SHEET

Colmant Coated Fabrics Butyl (IIR) Rubber Sheet is a synthetic rubber developed in the 1940’s. It has exceptionally low gas permeability making it ideal for inner tubes and high pressure/vacuum sealing applications. Its very low resilience makes it suitable for shock and vibration damping. Its chemical unsaturation gives it excellent resistance to heat, ozone, and weathering, and also to dilute acids and alkalis. It is not suitable for use in mineral or petroleum based fluids.

Colmant Coated Fabrics BUTYL (IIR) RUBBER SHEET

Vamac® AEM Rubber Sheet is one of the most employed rubbers for the manufacture of products summited to high temperatures while maintaining good properties against oxygen, ozone and light.

VAMAC® AEM RUBBER SHEET

Colmant Coated Fabrics Eco Rubber Sheet has properties similar to nitrile rubber but with better heat, oil and petrol resistance. It has a low gas permeability and better low temperature flexibility than NBR. Its resistance to acids, alkalis and ozone is excellent.

Colmant Coated Fabrics ECO RUBBER SHEET

Colmant Coated Fabrics SBR Rubber Sheet is one of the best options when applied to general purposes. Compared to natural rubber, SBR shows better abrasion resistance and heat-aging properties. Though, the resilience and the physical properties tend to be lower than those of Natural Rubber.
