- Assured Detergency with Low Foam and Foam Control Properties
The Synperonic LF range of speciality alkoxylates are copolymers of EO and PO added onto fully saturated primary alcohols. These structures have been specifically developed to give a wide range of properties from efficient de-foaming, through a balance of foam control and wetting, to low foam detergency in high temperature systems. The wide variety of properties gives the Synperonic LF series great versatility enabling combinations of performance characteristics to be explored.

- Performance in Auto-Dishwash
To achieve effective cleaning in auto-dishwash, it is common for high alkalinity to be employed with minimal surfactants in a formulation. This alkalinity results in the hydrolysis of food residues and the generation of surface-active species with a propensity to foam. The presence of this foam can reduce the effectiveness of the cleaning process and risks mechanical damage to pumps.
To conserve energy and water in modern auto-dishwashing, machines have been designed such that the relatively clean, but hot, final rinse water is recycled to the wash tank. This water contains a low level of a surfactant rinse-aid. This promotes rapid draining of washed items prior to drying. The surfactant system must then wet effectively at 80-85°C during the final rinse cycle and have de-foaming capabilities at 50-65°C at the wash stage in the presence of protein based soils.
These two requirements are in conflict as those surfactants with better wetting properties typically demonstrate a lower degree of foam control. The Synperonic LF series meets the conflicting technical requirements for rinse-aids due to a careful design and a balance of hydrophobic and hydrophilic groupings.
