Cyclolab Ltd. started its life and operated as a small R&D company for over 25 years. Recent changes in the world market and economy revealed the need for a change in the company’s business portfolio. Hence we have decided to share the resources between R&D activity and establishment of manufacturing facilities that enable the production of cyclodextrins in larger scale and under GMP circumstances.

To maintain and strengthen our position in the market, Cyclolab dedicates special attention to invention and developing patentable technologies. This attitude is well highlighted by the over 130 patents filed by the company so far.

Cyclolab committed its operations to serve the pharmaceutical industry by participating in early phase drug development studies (feasibility, formulation optimization, bioequivalence, etc), analysis and GMP manufacturing of various cyclodextrin derivatives to be applied as excipients.

Cyclolab Beta-cyclodextrin is made of homogeneous cyclic α1,4-linked D-glucopyranose units in a seven member ring. Forms clathrates and suitable for use with dansyl chloride to form water-soluble complexes for fluorescent labeling of proteins.

Cyclolab Beta-cyclodextrin

Cyclolab Alpha-cyclodextrin is a hexasaccharide derived from glucose. It is related to the β- (beta) and γ- (gamma) cyclodextrins, which contain seven and eight glucose units, respectively. All cyclodextrins are white, water-soluble solids with minimal toxicity.

Cyclolab Alpha-cyclodextrin

Cyclolab Methyl-beta-cyclodextrin (DS~12) is a cholesterol-removing agent mainly used for lipid raft disruption. It may also be used for detergent removal from protein-lipid-detergent ternary mixture to produce 2D membrane protein crystals due to its high solubility and affinity for detergents generally used in membrane protein chemistry.

Cyclolab (2-Hydroxypropyl)-beta-cyclodextrin (DS~4.5) is a cyclic oligosaccharide containing seven D-(+)-glucopyranose units that is widely used to improve the aqueous solubility of various compounds, especially those containing a phenyl group.

Cyclolab (2-Hydroxypropyl)-gamma-cyclodextrin is a gamma cyclodextrin that is a derivative of an 8-membered sugar ring molecule. (2-Hydroxypropyl)-γ-cyclodextrin can crosslink to form longer polymers. This overall is a very useful chemical for supramolecular chemistry. (2-Hydroxypropyl)-γ-cyclodextrin is also used in the solubilization of macromolecules and in cell culture applications. (2-Hydroxypropyl)-γ-cyclodextrin is similar to β-Cyclodextrin (sc-204430), but (2-Hydroxypropyl)-γ-cyclodextrin can work with larger molecules.

Cyclolab Sulfobutylated beta-cyclodextrin sodium salt (DS~6.5) is an excipient compound incorporating a chemically modified cyclodextrin with a structure that optimizes the solubility and stability of active pharmaceuticals and their properties. It is a highly water-soluble anionic cyclodextrin derivative. It can easily form non-covalent inclusion complexes with drug molecules and therefore reduce drug toxicity and haemolysis as well as control drug release rate. Its complexing properties also make it suitable for masking unpleasant odors and tastes of pharmaceutical products. It is used as an excipient in injection, oral, nasal and eye medication.

Cyclolab Gamma-cyclodextrin is 8 linked D-glucopyranose units. Its unique functional characteristics make it useful for filtering out cholesterol molecules, which get trapped in the cyclodextrin rings.
