To incorporate DOWSIL EL-9241 DM Silicone Elastomer Blend into a formula, it should be combined with the oil/silicone phase. Make certain DOWSIL EL-9241 DM Silicone Elastomer Blend is uniformly dispersed in the oil/silicone phase before proceeding. The viscosity of the DOWSIL EL-9241 DM Silicone Elastomer Blend decreases as it is diluted with other oils.
Figure 1 illustrates the effect when XIAMETER(TM) PMX-200 Silicone Fluid 5 CS is used as the diluent. DOWSIL EL-9241 DM Silicone Elastomer Blend is a high viscosity material, but like DOWSIL 9041 Silicone Elastomer Blend, it is strongly shear thinning and can be pumped using suitable equipment. Information about suitable equipment can be found in the product information sheet for DOWSIL(TM) 9040 Silicone Elastomer Blend. Because it contains a non-volatile carrier fluid DOWSIL 9041 Silicone Elastomer Blend can be used as a binder in pressed powder cosmetics.
When diluting with any solvent, refer to the solvent vendor’s safety data sheet for information on physical and health hazards associated with the solvent and use of ventilation, PPE, bonding and grounding or other measures that can minimize or eliminate these risks.

No significant differences were found when comparing the materials for gloss, film residue, greasiness, slipperiness, smoothness, powdery feel, spreadability, and wetness.
