Vamac
Vamac® Ultra XF
Polymer Name: Ethylene Acrylic Elastomer (AEM)
Vamac® Ultra XF is an intermediate Mooney viscosity grade at 23 MU (ML1+4, 100°C), between Vamac® GXF (17.5 MU) and Vamac® Ultra HT (29 MU). This offering provides customers with a broader choice of ethylene-acrylic elastomers for applications such as Turbo Charger Hose, other hose applications, or applications where excellent resistance to dynamic flex fatigue is needed. Such applications typically suffer in flex fatigue resistance when polymer blends are used to achieve the optimum processing performance. The higher viscosity of Vamac® Ultra XF vs. Vamac® GXF results in slight improvements in Compression Set, Tensile and Elongation at Break. Compression Set according to VW PV3307 is especially improved. Heat ageing and fluid ageing performance is comparable to Vamac® GXF.

Vamac
Vamac® Ultra HT
Polymer Name: Ethylene Acrylic Elastomer (AEM)
Vamac® Ultra HT has been developed to extend heat resistance and the dynamic performance of the standard Vamac® portfolio to a temperature range of 170 -180 °C, suitable for demanding applications such as turbo hoses and air ducts. DuPont™ Vamac® G has been widely used for a number of years in turbo charger hose applications. Vamac® GXF was developed to improve heat resistance and dynamic properties and these properties have now been further enhanced with the development of Vamac® Ultra HT (high temperature). Vamac® Ultra HT is a terpolymer of ethylene methyl acrylate (AEM) with an acidic cure site using a diamine-based vulcanization system delivering higher mechanical properties and better low temperature flexibility. Inherently, it has a halogen free structure like other Vamac® grades, all providing superior acid condensate resistance, characteristic of blow-by gas, and exhaust gas recirculation. The Vamac® Ultra family which includes Vamac® Ultra HT offers a specific polymer design with a higher viscosity improving process & properties versus standard Vamac® grades. Vamac® Ultra HT can be compounded as a DOTG-free compound similar to other Vamac® terpolymer products.

Vamac
Vamac® HVG
Polymer Name: Ethylene Acrylic Elastomer (AEM)
DuPont™ Vamac® HVG is an unfilled gum ethylene/acrylic elastomer similar to Vamac® G but offering higher compound viscosity. The higher viscosity of compounds made with Vamac® HVG results in improved green strength. Compounds of Vamac® HVG are often selected for applications such as compression molded goods, highly plasticized compounds, and extruded tubing and hose. Vamac® HVG contains a small amount of processing aid and has a mild acrylic odor.

Vamac

Mazda SKYACTIV-D diesel engine boosted by turbocharger parts
Mazda was looking for parts that would be durable under an extremely high temperature, high pressure and wet environment. But it was not possible to produce such pipes by injection molding without the technological expertise and support from DuPont, which we could not get from a part supplier. As a result, we chose DuPont as the only materials supplier that could provide both a plastic and rubber solution for this application.
