Eastman Eastman Texanol™ ester alcohol is the premier coalescent for latex paints. It performs well in all types of latex paints, in a variety of weather conditions, and over substrates with different levels of porosity. Eastman Texanol™ ester alcohol provides the highest level of film integrity at low levels of coalescent, enhancing the performance properties of the paint including low temperature coalescence, touch-up, scrub resistance, washability, color development, thermal flexibility, and resistance to mudcracking. Eastman Texanol™; ester alcohol also enhances thickening efficiency when used with associative thickeners. Eastman Texanol™ ester alcohol also works well in a variety of other applications. It is an ideal choice as a retarder solvent for use in coil coatings and high-bake enamels. Its unique balance of properties also makes it useful for a variety of chemical specialty applications such as ore flotation / frothing, oil-drilling muds, wood preservative carriers, and floor polishes. Eastman Eastman AQ ™ 38S polymer is a sulfopolyester that disperses directly in hot water without the assistance of amines, cosolvents, surfactants or other additives. AQ 38S polymer aids the dispersion of many hydrophobic ingredients in water-based products and forms clear films at room temperature from aqueous dispersions. Eastman AQ ™polymers differ chiefly in glass transition temperature (Tg) or softening point. As indicated by the number in the product name, Eastman AQ 38S polymer has a Tg of about 38°C. The "S" indicates AQ 38S is supplied as solid pellets. Eastman AQ linear polyesters serve as film formers in numerous cosmetic and personal care applications. Because of its low Tg, Eastman AQ™ 38S forms flexible films on the skin. It imparts a smooth feel to creams, lotions, and sprays and adheres to the skin. Thus, it is useful as a film-former in sunscreen products, providing excellent water resistance. AQ 38 is added to the water phase and aids the emulsification of oil-phase UV absorbers. AQ 38 provides improved coverage for sprayable sunscreens.

Eastman Foral™ 105-E ester of hydrogenated rosin is a pale, thermoplastic ester resin derived from pentaerythritol and a highly stabilized rosin. Like Foral 85-E ester of hydrogenated rosin, which is produced from the same unique oxidation-resistant rosin, Foral 105-E offers advantages as the tackifier or modifier resin in various adhesives and coating compositions. In these applications, both resins exhibit resistance to oxidation and to discoloration caused by heat and aging. Foral 105-E has a substantially higher softening point and is therefore indicated where a harder resin is desired. It is also used in UV cured acrylics to improve adhesion to low surface energy substrates when high tack is not needed.

Eastman KRISTALEX™ 1120 hydrocarbon resin is a water clear, highly color stable, nonpolar, low molecular weight thermoplastic polymer. This resin is compatible with a wide variety of oils, waxes, alkyds, plastics, and elastomers, and is soluble in many common organic solvents. It is indicated for use in plastics modification, adhesives, coatings, sealants, and caulks. In EVA-based hot melt adhesives KRISTALEX™ 1120 is compatible with EVA grades with up to 18% vinyl acetate and is useful in formulating low-color adhesives with improved high temperature resistance. Eastman Tacolyn™ 3400 resin ester dispersion is an aqueous, 55% solids, solvent-free, anionic rosin ester dispersion prepared from a highly hydrogenated, high softening point resin. It is recommended for use in food packaging applications such as closures, lidding, and cold seal adhesives, as well as pressure sensitive adhesives that contact food. Tacolyn™ 3400 is also used in adhesives applications requiring higher temperature strength such as in high temperature masking tapes, packaging tapes, and contact adhesives.

Eastman Piccotac™ 1115 hydrocarbon resin is a high softening point, thermoplastic, relatively high molecular weight, aliphatic C5 resin derived from dienes and other reactive olefin monomers. It is characterized by its light color, excellent balance of adhesive and cohesive properties, and broad compatibility and solubility. Piccotac 1115 hydrocarbon resin is stabilized by addition of antioxidant. It is primarily for use in hot melt adhesives, pressure sensitive adhesives, and wax modification.

UPAC: 2,2-Dimethyl-1,3-PropanediolEastman NPG glycol is the industry standard glycol component in high-quality polyester resins for industrial coatings and fiberglass-reinforced plastics applications. Most polyester resin formulations contain NPG as the sole glycol component, or it is used in conjunction with a modifying glycol to achieve desired properties. NPG and Eastman PTA (Purified Terephthalic Acid) are the primary components for polyester powder coating resins. Eastman NPG delivers the overall toughness, stain and detergent resistance, and outdoor weathering performance required of coil coatings for appliances and products for exterior applications. Gel coats containing unsaturated polyesters made from NPG and Eastman PIA (Purified Isophthalic Acid) provide excellent weatherability and water and stain resistance.Eastman NPG is also used in polyester polyols for polyurethane coatings for the automotive, industrial maintenance, transportation, and aerospace markets.In the United States, neopentyl glycol may be lawfully used as a reactant for coatings and other products intended for use in contact with foods under specific federal food additive regulations.Eastman NPG glycol is available in three forms: Platelets in bags that exhibit excellent caking stability on storage. Bulk molten shipped in tank trucks that require a heated tank for storage. Eastman NPG 90 glycol, a liquid at or above 38°C containing 90 parts NPG and 10 parts water, is delivered in bulk and can be stored at a much lower temperature than molten NPG.

Eastman KRISTALEX™ 5140 hydrocarbon resin is a high softening point, low molecular weight resin produced by copolymerization of pure aromatic monomers. It is designed primarily for use as a modifier resin in high performance adhesives and coating compositions. In these applications, its water clear color, heat stability, and resistance to oxidation and discoloration are used to advantage. In EVA-based hot melt adhesives, KRISTALEX™ 5140 is compatible with EVA grades with up to 18% vinyl acetate and is useful in formulating low-color adhesives with improved high temperature resistance. In styrenic block copolymer based adhesives, KRISTALEX™ 5140 preferentially associates with the styrenic endblocks, producing higher cohesion at temperatures up to 70°C without affecting tack and adhesion properties. KRISTALEX™ 5140 complies with many FDA regulations for applications involving direct contact with food. Compliance with a given regulation in a specific situation should be verified prior to use in a food contacting application.

It is a pale, oily liquid with low odor, and is highly resistant to discoloration on exposure to heat and light. Because of the near absence of saturated fatty acids, this product has exceptionally low titer. Pamolyn™ 210 linoleic acid contains a low percentage of unsaponifiables and resin acids. Pamolyn™ 210 linoleic acid is designed especially for the protective coatings industry for production of pale, color retentive, fast drying alkyds and epoxy resin ester coatings. Other uses for this linoleic acid are in applications that require both wetting and drying properties, such as printing ink vehicles and caulking and sealant compositions.
