product
Producer:
Eastman When cellulose is esterified with both acetyl and butyryl radicals to form the mixed ester, cellulose acetate butyrate, many of the desirable properties of both esters are obtained. Eastman™ Cellulose Acetate Butyrate CAB 171-15 National Formulary has the lowest butyryl content in the series of Eastman™ Cellulose Acetate Butyrates. It can be used as coating material as the semi-permeable membrane for osmotic drug delivery. It is also used for taste-masking and sustained release tableting. Eastman™ Cellulose Acetate Butyrate CAB-171-15 NF is made under cGMP and meets the requirements of the National Formulary (NF). Eastman™ Cellulose Acetate Butyrate CAB-171-15 NF is available in powder form.

Features & Benefits
Product Highlights
- For use in coatings: semipermeable, excellent film former, strong, flexible.
- Characteristics of coating can be modified (permeability, mechanical strength, flexibility) through blending two CAs or CA with CAB.
- For use in tableting directly compressible, matrix for sustained release
- CAB is more hydrophobic than CA.
- Requires a solvent for coatings formulations
- Modify a wide range of film properties through additives
- Adjust sustained release by blending CA with CAB

Storage & Handling
Storage and Handling
- Eastman cellulose esters are packed and sealed in fiber drums equipped with a polyethylene inner liner and reusable metal closure.
- These containers should be sealed and protected from moisture or high humidity for extended periods.
- Drums held in cool, dry storage should be brought to room temperature before opening to prevent condensation of moisture on inside surfaces.
