Being an acidic resin, it reacts readily with polyalcohols or hydrated lime to yield high melting derivatives.

Eastman AQ™ 55S polymer is a sulfopolyester that disperses directly in hot water without the assistance of surfactants or other additives. AQ 55S polymer aids the dispersion of many hydrophobic ingredients in water-based products and forms clear films at room temperature from aqueous dispersions. Eastman AQ ™55S has good film integrity when combined with other cosmetic ingredients and is the preferred AQ polymer to improve water and smudge resistance of water-based makeup and mascaras. In hairstyling products, AQ 55S provides excellent hold under high-humidity conditions and stiffness that is easily modified with plasticizers and thickeners. The "S" indicates AQ 55S is supplied as solid pellets.

Eastman Cellulose Acetate Butyrate (CAB-551-0.2, Food Contact) is a cellulose ester with high butyryl content and relatively low molecular weight. It is compatible with numerous cross-linking resins and has a lower solution viscosity. In coatings, Eastman CAB-551-0.2, Food Contact gives clear films, reduces surface tack and mottling, minimizes cratering, improves flow and thermal reflow, and provides inter coat adhesion and good UV stability. It is useful for durable cross-linked formulations. Its good compatibility with a wide range of curing resin systems and its solubility in a wide variety of solvents and solvent combinations make it useful as an additive in numerous coating compositions. When CAB-551-0.2, Food Contact is dissolved in appropriate solvents, a clear, colorless solution is produced.Eastman CAB-551-0.2, Food Contact is based on cellulose, one of the most abundant natural renewable resources, from trees harvested from sustainably managed forests. The calculated approximate bio-content value of 37% for Eastman CAB-551-0.2, Food Contact was determined by using six bio-based carbon atoms per anhyroglucose unit divided by the total number of carbons per anhyroglucose unit. Although the value reported is not specifically measured for bio-carbon, it can be estimated based on typical partition data.This product is manufactured, stored, handled and transported by Eastman under conditions adhering to current Good Manufacturing Practices for food contact applications. Compared with Staybelite™ resin-E partially hydrogenated rosin, a hydrogenated rosin long established and widely used for its pale color and high oxidation resistance, Foral AX-E has better initial color and color retention, and even greater resistance to oxidation. It is especially indicated as the tackifier and resin modifier in solvent adhesives and hot-melt applied coatings and adhesives that must excel in these properties. It is also used in UV cured acrylics to improve adhesion to low surface energy substrates.

Eastman Cellulose Acetate Butyrate (CAB-553-0.4, Food Contact) is soluble in low molecular weight alcohols (methanol, ethanol, isopropanol, and n-propanol) as well as other common organic solvents. It has a high hydroxyl content (4.8 wt. %, average), which contributes to its alcohol solubility. The hydroxyl group is reactive and may be crosslinked with urea formaldehydes, melamines, and polyisocyantes. When CAB-553-0.4, Food Contact is dissolved in appropriate solvents, a clear, colorless solution is produced. Films of CAB-553-0.4, Food Contact are colorless and have good ultraviolet stability, maintaining their low color over long periods of time. Eastman CAB-553-0.4, Food Contact is supplied as a dry, free-flowing powder, offering formulation convenience, ease of handling and maximum formulating flexibility.Eastman CAB-553-0.4, Food Contact is based on cellulose, one of the most abundant natural renewable resources, from trees harvested from sustainably managed forests. The calculated approximate bio-content value of 41% for Eastman CAB-553-0.4, Food Contact was determined by using six bio-based carbon atoms per anhyroglucose unit divided by the total number of carbons per anhyroglucose unit. Although the value reported is not specifically measured for bio-carbon, it can be estimated based on typical partition data.This product is manufactured, stored, handled and transported by Eastman under conditions adhering to current Good Manufacturing Practices for food contact applications. This product meets requirements for use in certain food contact applications under regulations of the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (21 CFR), European Commission (Regulation 10/2011) and the Switzerland Ordinance of the FDHA on materials and articles intended to come into contact with foodstuffs (817.023.21, Annex 10). Piccotex™ 120 hydrocarbon resin is the highest softening point member of in a series of highly stable, water white, thermoplastic materials based on purified aromatic monomers. These resins have outstanding hot tack; heat sealability; resistance to discoloration; acid, alkali, and moisture resistance; and stability to elevated temperatures encountered in compounding. High initial and retained gloss, and improved application speeds on curtain coating and roll coating equipment. Piccotex™ 120 complies with some FDA regulations for applications involving direct contact with food. Compliance with a given regulation in a specific situation should be verified prior to use in a food contacting application.

Foral™ 105-E ester of hydrogenated rosin is a pale, thermoplastic ester resin derived from pentaerythritol and a highly stabilized rosin. Like Foral 85-E ester of hydrogenated rosin, which is produced from the same unique oxidation-resistant rosin, Foral 105-E offers advantages as the tackifier or modifier resin in various adhesives and coating compositions. In these applications, both resins exhibit resistance to oxidation and to discoloration caused by heat and aging. Foral 105-E has a substantially higher softening point and is therefore indicated where a harder resin is desired. It is also used in UV cured acrylics to improve adhesion to low surface energy substrates when high tack is not needed.

Tacolyn™ 5002 resin dispersion is an aqueous, 55% solids, solvent-free, anionic hydrocarbon resin dispersion. It is recommended as a tackifier for natural rubber and styrene butadiene rubber latex polymers used in label, tape, construction, and contact adhesive applications. As a modifier for pressure sensitive label and tape adhesives, Tacolyn™ 5002 provides a good balance of peel and shear and enhances specific adhesion to polyolefin substrates and recycled corrugated board. Tacolyn™ 5002 is recommended for water-based contact adhesives where fast break properties are required as in foam to foam bonding applications.
