Eastman AQ ™ 38S polymer is a sulfopolyester that disperses directly in hot water without the assistance of amines, cosolvents, surfactants or other additives. AQ 38S polymer aids the dispersion of many hydrophobic ingredients in water-based products and forms clear films at room temperature from aqueous dispersions. Eastman AQ ™polymers differ chiefly in glass transition temperature (Tg) or softening point. As indicated by the number in the product name, Eastman AQ 38S polymer has a Tg of about 38°C. The "S" indicates AQ 38S is supplied as solid pellets. Eastman AQ linear polyesters serve as film formers in numerous cosmetic and personal care applications. Because of its low Tg, Eastman AQ™ 38S forms flexible films on the skin. It imparts a smooth feel to creams, lotions, and sprays and adheres to the skin. Thus, it is useful as a film-former in sunscreen products, providing excellent water resistance. AQ 38 is added to the water phase and aids the emulsification of oil-phase UV absorbers. AQ 38 provides improved coverage for sprayable sunscreens.

In hairstyling products, AQ 55S provides excellent hold under high-humidity conditions and stiffness that is easily modified with plasticizers and thickeners. The "S" indicates AQ 55S is supplied as solid pellets.

Vantex™ T is available as a colorless to light yellow liquid with a slight amine-like odor. This pioneering amine additive is changing the world of paints and coatings by enabling environmentally friendly, low-odor, low VOC formulations. Vantex™ T is a neutralization amine additive that will allow paint manufacturers to formulate high quality paints, having virtually no amine odor. The product has a very low vapor pressure, with virtually no odor. It can be used as a replacement for current paint neutralization systems. VOC contribution is dependent on region and test method. In the U.S., testing by EPA Method 24 shows that this product does not contribute to the VOC content. However, ASTM D6886 with methyl palmitate as the GC marker shows that it is a VOC. In Europe, this product is not considered a VOC by article 5 of EU directive 2004/42/EC due to the boiling point being above 250°C.

Eastman™ IBIB (Isobutyl Isobutyrate) is an economical retarder solvent that is used in nitrocellulose lacquers, coatings for plastic substrates, and high-solids coatings. It is a slow-evaporating solvent with good flow and leveling characteristics, and good blush resistance. It is an economical, urethane grade, active solvent for nitrocellulose. The low surface tension of IBIB is valuable in applications where improved wetting of the substrate is needed. With low water miscibility, IBIB is an excellent retarder solvent for moisture-sensitive coatings such as 2-K polyurethanes. IBIB has high electrical resistance, which is helpful in adjusting the resistivity of coatings applied using electrostatic spray equipment. Eastman AQ™ 48 Ultra polymer is a sulfopolyester that disperses directly in a mixture of ethanol and water at room temperature or in warm water without the assistance of surfactants or other additives. Low-viscosity aqueous dispersions can be prepared at concentrations up to 30% polymer solids. The aqueous or hydroalcoholic dispersions have water-like viscosity at concentrations up to about 20% polymer. AQ polymers aid the dispersion of hydrophobic ingredients in water-based formulations and films formed from the dispersions are clear and glossy at room temperature. AQ 48 Ultra polymer was designed specifically for use as a hair fixative in 55% VOC hairspray. Therefore, it is more compatible with higher levels of alcohol than Eastman AQ™ 38S or 55S, and has good wash out with shampooing. AQ 48 polymer provides excellent hold at high humidity in aerosol and pump hairsprays, as well as in clear styling gels. Eastman AQ 48 has a Tg (glass transition temperature) of about 48°C. AQ 48 polymer is supplied as pellets.

Eastman™ n-Butyl Propionate is a non-HAP, slow evaporating, and urethane grade solvent with good solvent activity for most coating resins. In lacquers and ambient cure enamels, this solvent is used as a retarder solvent. Its slow evaporation rate allows for flow and leveling but does not prevent the quick rubbing and sanding of the lacquer. Many resins are letdown in a solvent thinning tank to make handling, storing, and shipping easier. Eastman™ n-Butyl Propionate is useful as a letdown solvent because of its low volatility, good solvent activity, and urethane grade quality. Since n-Butyl Propionate is not on EPA's HAP list, it is a good choice for replacing xylene in coating applications such as high-solids thermoset enamels. It is also used as a processing solvent for high-solids acrylic resins, and for coatings applied via electrostatic spray equipment.
