Manalox 410™ can be simply diluted with solvent to provide a clear waterproofing penetrating sealant which exceeds Industry Standard ASTM D-4446 or it can be further enhanced with resin, waxes and pigments allowing the formulator much flexibility to obtain target performance criteria.

- Formulation
- We recommend a 7 part solvent to 1 part Manalox 410™ dilution for an effective water repellent.
- Additional long term performance enhancement can be achieved by adding certain resins and waxes.
- Hydrocarbon resins, self drying alkyd resins, and paraffin waxes are good choices for additives in Manalox 410 based water repellents because these products enhance the water beading properties of the treated substrates and prolong product performance.
- When choosing additives, one must remember the reactive nature of the poly-oxo aluminum compound.
- Resins that have carboxyl groups should be avoided because they will react with the Manalox 410 and may cause thickening or even gelation of the formulation.
- Alcohols or other hydroxyl containing products should also be avoided because they can react with the Manalox 410 and cause similar problems.
- Additives, especially solvents, should be free of moisture. Water will react with Manalox 410 and cause the formulation to gel.
- Alkali refined linseed oil can be used in place of the resins. However, care must be taken on the choice of the oil grade. A high quality grade with an Acid Value less than 1.0 should be chosen to avoid the possibility of thickening or gelation of the formula.
- Care should be taken when choosing the wax component. Paraffin waxes are preferred to microcrystalline waxes because of their better solubility in solvent.
