GENOFOCUS is a South Korean company that develops and produces new microbiome drugs and healthcare ingredients using microbial metabolism. Established in 2000 as a spin-off from Korea's reputable KRIBB (Korea Research Institute of Bioscience & Biotechnology), GENOFOCUS brings expertise to specialty enzyme, nutraceutical, cosmeceutical, and biopharmaceutical industries using our core platform technology and eco-friendly processes.

GENOFOCUS has established strong internal R&D infrastructure and a diverse collaborative research network, and has commercialized various raw materials across industries.

GENOFOCUS researchs and develops various microbial strains and specialty enzymes, and discovers novel microbiome-enzyme drugs. Its subsidiary GF Fermentech is engaged in bio-healthcare ingredients, and its subsidiary Biomlogic develops microbiome-enzyme drugs.

Our vision is to lead the global Microbiome Therapeutics industry through the expansion of our bio-pharmaceutical, dietery supplement, and medical foods businesses.

GENOFOCUS Lactase is a neutral lactase (EC 3.2.1.23) preparation derived from Bacillus circulans. The enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of lactose and the galactosyl transfer reaction. In the galactosyl transfer reaction, it is advantageous to react at high temperature because of the low solubility of lactose. GOS is primarily used for main ingredient of premium powdered milk, and market needs of GOS addition amount is increasing annually by more than 20%. GOS is also used for dairy products, food and beverages, etc.

GF01 Mutanase is a mutanase preparation derived from Trichoderma sp. The enzyme catalyzes the hydrolysis of α-1,3 Glucan(Mutan), which is main substance of dental plaque. Dental plaque is biofilm, formed by bacteria, salivary glycoproteins and sticky glucose polymers that adhere to tooth surfaces. About 85% of glucose polymers of dental plaque is mutan(α-1,3 Glucan) and remaining 20% is dextran(α-1,6 Glucan).
