Features & Benefits

Product Background
  • Khush Ingredients offers three types of lemongrass oil at present, conventional, organic and a botanical variation known as Lemongrass citratus (Cymbopogon citratus), which is more widely used as a flavoring ingredient. This information relates to conventional Cymbopogon flexuosus, which we import from Cochin region of India. The oil is produced from the steam distillation of the dried grass of cymbopogon flexuosus, grown principally in fields in southern parts of India.
  • There is also extensive lemongrass grown in other parts of the world including Indonesia, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and the West Indies.  Khush Ingredients current supply from India reflects the high volume produced, with good understanding of the material and a beneficial cost base ensuring we can deliver cost effective, consistent material to our customers at a fair price.
  • The main harvest periods for Lemongrass are April, May, June, September and October. During harvest, biomass is gathered and partially dried to reduce water content, before being field distilled. The crude oil is then transported to the essential oil plant to be cleaned, tested and packaged.
