SYLVARES 540 AMS (alpha methyl styrene) Phenolic resin is a water white aromatic hydrocarbon resin with good oxidative stability. The phenolic component improves compatibility with high polarity polymers. The low Tg of SYLVARES 540 resin improves elasticity at low temperature.

SYLVARES 540 AMS Phenolic resin is compatible with:

  • styrene phase of SBCs
  • ethylene co-polymers like EVA with 28 to 45 % VA
  • higher polarity polymers like polyurethane
  • paraffin, microcrystalline, FT and polyethylene waxes
Solubility

SYLVARES 540 AMS Phenolic resin is soluble in:

  • aromatic solvents like toluene
  • esters and ketones like ethylacetate and acetone
  • insoluble in aliphatic solvent like hexane and in alcohols like ethanol and propanol

The product is a solid resin supplied as pastilles in 20kg and 500kg paper bags.

Storage & Handling

Storage Recommendation

To preserve product quality, cool storage and transit at (< 70°F / 20 °C) is recommended. To prevent remassing, keep away from direct sunlight or other sources of heat. Product stored or transported at higher temperatures should be evaluated for impact on performance before use.
