KURARAY POVAL™ 5-88 by Kuraray is a partially hydrolyzed polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) grade. It is suitable for modification of emulsion adhesives and remoistenable adhesives in the paper processing industry. It exhibits good bonding strength and pigment binding capacity. It is used as an adhesive promoter. It provides good cohesion and adhesion to fibers, fillers and pigments. This grade is used in postage stamps and labels. Aqueous solution of KURARAY POVAL™ 5-88 can be added to polymer emulsion which is already stabilized with polyvinyl alcohol to extend the open time, increase setting speed and influence the rheology.
