HIEROGALINE® is derived from the unique combination of oleodistillates of wheat germ oil and sesame oil. These are concentrates of active molecules obtained through molecular distillation, a unique process patented by Laboratoires Expanscience that is respectful to people and the environment.
Each day, our skin is subject to UV induced stress that alter skin, particularly at the cellular level, and contribute to accelerating skin aging. Through its wealth of active molecules with antioxidant and antiradical properties, HIEROGALINE® fights the harmful effects of UV.
Oxidative stress and the harmful action of free radicals alter cell viability (fibroblasts in particular) and the key functions for which it is responsible (renewal and restructuring of the dermal matrix).

1- Highlight of curative antiradical activity
• Evaluation of the antiradical power of a mixture of oleodistillates of wheat germ oil and sesame oil.
• Free radicals are generated by irradiating fibroblasts in culture with UVA rays (2.3 J/cm 2). The oleodistillates are added to the medium after irradiation (curative activity).
• The % of protection is proportional to the cell viability as evaluated 24 hours after irradiation (measured by colorimetry – MTT assay); without an active ingredient, the cell toxicity induced by the UVA rays is 80%.
• The blend of 50% oleodistillate of wheat germ oil and 50% oleodistillate of sesame oil provides protective power against free radicals with a curative effect.

2– Confirmation of antiradical power: curative AND preventive action
• Evaluation of the antiradical power of HIEROGALINE®.
• Free radicals are generated by irradiating fibroblasts in culture with UVA rays (2.3 J/cm2).
• HIEROGALINE ® is added to the medium 48 hours before irradiation (for preventive action) or after irradiation (curative action).
•The % of protection is proportional to the cell viability as evaluated 24 hours after irradiation (measured by colorimetry– MTT assay)
Without an active ingredient, the toxicity on the fibroblasts is close to 70%, 24 hours after UVA irradiation. When Vitamin E or HIEROGALINE® is added before or after irradiation, this mortality is reduced as follows.
