α - LUPALINE® results from a unique combination of lupin oil specially produced by Laboratoires Expanscience and a concentrate of active molecules from wheat germ oil obtained through molecular distillation. This unique process patented by Laboratoires Expanscience respects the people as well as the environment and allows to obtain concentrate of unsaponifiables.
Each day, our skin is subject to numerous aggressors (UV, stress, etc.) that alter skin at the microscopic level and contribute to accelerating skin aging.α - LUPALINE® prevents the skin from external stresses: cells as well as elastic fibers are protected.
Skin is subject to a variety of factors that affect skin tissue. These include,oxidative stress, which leads to:
- Lipid peroxidation, which alters cell membranes and disrupts their properties (the regulation of movement between the matrix and cells)
- The breakdown of cell DNA, which will disrupt cell proliferation and more generally, the overall functioning of the cell.
- The breakdown of elastic fibers in the dermis, which leads to a loss of elasticity.
By countering these three primary degradation factors, α - LUPALINE® offers a complete protective solution and helps to prevent accelerated skin aging as a result of external stresses.

In-vitro
α - LUPALINE® protects against the harmful effects of UV rays by preventing lipid peroxidation.
- Evaluation of the antiradical powers of a mixture of wheat germ oil concentrate (unsaponifiables) with lupin oil.
- Mixtures tested on keratinocytes – oxidative stress induced by UVA rays (10J/cm2 )
- Oxidative stress will lead to the formation of hydroperoxides that are responsible for lipid peroxidation.
- The % of protection is inversely proportional to the quantity of hydroperoxides generated by UVA stress.
- The blend of 30% oleodistillate of wheat germ oil and 70% lupin oil provides the best protection against free radicals, and consequently the greatest preventive power with regard to lipid peroxidation.
- That finding is behind the composition of our α - LUPALINE®.
- α - LUPALINE® is as effective as the control mixture at a lower concentration.

Evaluation of DNA protection power with the 3D test*
Damaged DNA Detection: cellular DNA is placed in contact with a reactive oxygen species that causes damage, which will be repaired by special enzymes present in the medium.
α - LUPALINE® (at 0.1%) has a cellular DNA protective power twice that of β-carotene.

α - LUPALINE® prevents the loss of skin elasticity caused by age: anti-elastase activity
Test on skin explants (37-year-old woman).
- Measurement of the quantity of elastic fibers* after purified elastase is applied to explants treated with α - LUPALINE® or Elastatinal (control elastase inhibitor) or left untreated.
