MACALINE® is obtained from the dried plant using an extraction process that is friendly to both people and the environment, patented by Laboratoires Expanscience.
MACALINE®,a complete plan of attack for recovering the silhouetteof your dreams
Cellulite, orange peel skin and unflattering curves... issues common to many women. These problems result from excess fat storage in the hypodermis and a loss of skin firmness. Swollen fat cells press on and deform tissue as well as compress blood vessels, resulting in poor circulation and local inflammation. With increasingly sedentary lifestyles, all these phenomena are exacerbated. Cellulite moves in! Shed fat, drain tissues and firm up: the 3 targets of MACALINE® to make your dreams of an ideal silhouette a reality.

MACALINE® acts on fat-shedding and fibrosis: slimming effect
1- Effect on lipolysis and lipogenesis:
• MACALINE® 1% reduces lipogenesis by 28% MACALINE® 0.1% boosts lipolysis by 129%.
• As the adipocyles mitochondrial activity is enhanced, the released stored fat that is eliminated instantly in situ (fatty acids oxidation).
2/ Effect on fibrosis of the hypodermis:
• The fibrosis reflects excessive and abnormal accumulation of extracellular matrix, especially composed of fibrous molecules such as collagen I and fibronectin.
• MACALINE® reduces the quantity of fibronectin and collagen I synthesized by adipocytes in inflammatory conditions.
MACALINE® enhances microcirculation: draining effect
MACALINE ® strengthens and protects vessel walls:
MACALINE® strengthens skin structure: firming effect
•Effect on synthesis of key dermis components: Quantification of collagen I and decorin* synthesized by fibroblasts, treated with MACALINE® 0.2%. *decorin: binds to collagen fibrils to protect them.
•Protective effect on the dermal matrix:
> Quantification of the elastase released by neutrophils subjet to inflammatory conditions, treated with MACALINE® 1%
> Quantification of MMP9 released by macrophages subject to inflammatory conditions, treated by MACALINE® 1%
- Efficacy Study
MACALINE® is effective against all of the factors that lead to cellulite and unsightly curves:
• In the hypodermis, MACALINE® promotes fat-shedding by stimulating lipolysis and modulating lipogenesis. Moreover, MACALINE® boosts energy metabolism of adipocytes, which induces immediate and local oxidation of fatty acids released during lipolysis. MACALINE® also decreases the orange-peel appearance by reducing fibrosis responsible of the partitioning the adipocytes clusters and caused by local inflammation.
• In the dermis, MACALINE® stimulates the synthesis of key compounds (collagen I, decorin) that contribute to skin firmness while protecting the extracellular matrix against further degradation.
• MACALINE® provides a draining effect by acting on the key markers that help to maintain proper microcirculation: it reduces vascular permeability, protects vessel walls, etc.
- Clinical study
• Randomized study, double-blind vs. placebo.
• 33 women aged 21 to 54 with stable weight for 3 months, 20 < Body Mass Index < 27 (each subject acted as her own control).
• Twice a day application on legs over a 56-day period (one leg treated with a cream containing MACALINE® 3%, the otherleg treated with a placebo).
• Thigh volume was measured via fringes projection; draining effect measured by thermography;firming effect measured with cutometer.
