- Product Background
Gynandropsis gynandra is a plant known for its high level of polyphenols and particularly flavonoids, which are molecules with significant antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties. PIXALIA®, an eco-designed active ingredient, is an extract that is rich in polyphenols, exclusively obtained from the dried leaves of Cleome gynandra, using an extraction process that protects both people and the environment, patented by Laboratoires Expanscience.
Focus on impurities and imperfections: PIXALIA®, a complete solution to recover a perfect skin grain. One in five adults, particularly women, are still affected by oily, acne-prone skin after the age of 20. This skin problem is the result of producing excessive, low quality sebum, which causes a proliferation of the bacterium P. acnes, thus stimulating inflammatory processes. Other triggers, such as hormonal changes, fatigue, stress or pollution intensify this skin disorder. Reducing seborrhea, optimizing the quality of sebum and regulating inflammation help to restore clear skin and enjoy renewed image.

Technical Details & Test Data
- Efficacy Study
PIXALIA® reduces sebum production
Topic application of a cream containing 3% PIXALIA® on explants from the border area of the scalp, vs a placebo, in systemic inflammatory conditions (arachidonic acid).
Quantification of sebum produced by the sebaceous glands (Oil-Red-O staining)
PIXALIA® improves the quality of sebum thanks to its antioxidant effect
• PIXALIA® (0.032%) inhibits by 33% the quantity of ROS generated by H2 O2 in keratinocytes, which will limit lipid peroxidation.
• PIXALIA® (0.02%) reduces by 23% the lipid peroxidation caused by UV radiation.
PIXALIA® regulates hyperseborrhea and helps to improve sebum quality by reducing its oxidation.
PIXALIA® reduces inflammation caused by P. acnes
PIXALIA® helps the skin to protect itself from bacterial colonization by P. acnes and thus reduces the outbreaks of inflammation characteristic of oily, acne-prone skin.
- Clinical study
• Randomized comparative study, double-blind vs placebo, incorporating an innovative method of sampling skin lipids from the forehead.
• 34 women (split into 2 groups with comparable skin conditions on D0) aged 25 to 35 years, with light to moderate acne
• for each group: application of cream with 3% PIXALIA® or placebo to the face twice a day for 60 days
• measurement of key parameters of oily, acne-prone skin
• Clinical examination and self-assessment after 60 days
PIXALIA® normalizes the key parameters of oily, acne-prone skin while restoring the skin’s protective film, which is left smoother and clearer with a healthier appearance.
