METABLEN™

Mitsubishi Chemical Group Corporation Brand

METABLEN™ is the trade name of modifiers, which have been developed originally by Mitsubishi chemical, a world prominent manufacture of methyl methacrylate resins. Adding a small quantity of METABLEN™ to various resins improves and increases their impact strength and processability, and further improves the characteristics, the appearance and the productivity of their final products.

*METABLEN™ is provided by Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, a member of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group.

The Mitsubishi Chemical Group has acquired ISCC PLUS certification, an international certification system for sustainable products. The certified products include METABLEN. (See LINK)

We are ready to prepare METABLEN products with ISCC PLUS certification. If you are interested, please feel free to contact us.

METABLEN™ A 3000 is an acrylic-modified polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE) used in vacuum molding, foam molding, blow molding and profiling. It improves the melt tension that is required in these processing methods by minimizing increases in melt viscosity, without sacrificing the inherent properties of thermoplastics.BenefitsIncreases melt tension of a resinMaintains fluidityEnhances die swellImproves the flexural modulus, heat deformation temperature, and other properties of polypropyleneAnti-drip effect with flame-retardant resinsImproves filler dispersibilityBetter surface appearanceIncreases foam expansion ratioApplicationsAutomotiveConsumer goodsElectric and electronics*METABLEN™ is provided by Mitsubishi Chemical Corporation, a member of the Mitsubishi Chemical Group.

Impact Modifier Technology

Core: Rubber

  • METABLEN has various materials such as acrylic, silicone/acrylic, and butadiene.
  • Toughness can be obtained by controlling rubber particle size and morphology.
  • Transparency can be achieved by controlling rubber refractive index.
  Rubber elasticity (at R.T.) Rubber elasticity (at low temp.) Whetherability
Acrylic (W-type) ++
Silicone/acrylic (S-type) ++ ++ ++
Butadiene (C, E-type) ++ ++ -

Especially silicone/acryl complex rubber has a high performance compared with the single-phase rubber particle.

Shell: Graft copolymer

  • Shell (graft) gives rubber particles compatibility to matrix resin.
  • Introduction of functional groups to shell is applicable.
