- Properties and Applications
AGITAN 156 is a polysiloxane emulsion with excellent stability and defoaming persistency. The defoamer is miscible with water in all ratios. AGITAN 156 can be used in pigmented and non-pigmented water based systems. AGITAN 156 is especially designed for the use in water based wood coatings, particularly airless, airmix and HVLP applied coatings and parquet lacquers.
Main applications:
- Industrial and wood coatings
- Printing inks
- Adhesives
- Emulsion manufacturing
- Recommended Levels and Use
Ladder studies are recommended to determine optimum level. Normal dosage ranges from 0.05 to 0.5 % on finished product. AGITAN 156 is typically added undiluted during pigment grinding for optimum distribution and de-aeration. For most efficient use 2/3 of AGITAN 156 is added to the pigment dispersion and 1/3 is added to the letdown.

- Storage and Handling
AGITAN 156 is not sensitive to freezing, but for better handling it should be stored between 5°C and 25°C. Frozen product must be defrosted and homogenized by stirring before use. As the product tends to separate slightly it must be stirred before use. The minimum shelf life in closed containers is 9 months from the date of manufacture.
