EDAPLAN 490 is a VOC-free wetting agent and dispersant for organic and inorganic pigments as well as carbon blacks in aqueous media. It can be used for the production of coating systems based on polymer emulsions and water-soluble resins (air and oven drying, 2K systems) as well as for the production of aqueous and glycol-containing, binder-free pigment concentrates. EDAPLAN 490 stabilizes pigment dispersions and reduces the mill-base viscosity. Gloss, color strength and hiding power are improved and reflocculation is prevented. EDAPLAN 490 allows to achieve very high pigment loading at low dosage in binder free pigment paste formulations.
- Recommended Levels and Use
Ladder studies are recommended to determine optimum concentration level. Normal dosage ranges from 10 - 50 % EDAPLAN 490 in delivery form for organic pigments and carbon blacks, calculated on pigment solids. EDAPLAN 490 is not sensitive to freezing but for better handling it should be stored between 5 and 25 °C.
The minimum shelf life in closed containers is 15 months from the date of manufacture.
