Product Background

Zinc Acetate dihydrate is supplied as pure grade. Pharmaceutical grade can be supplied on request. Zinc acetates are used in many industrial applications. Their main effect is pH adjustment, crystallization aid, or as a catalyst or reagent. Niacet’s ingredients are used in resins, coatings, detergents, dyes, heat packs, carbon black, drilling fluids, ceramics, leather tanning, fire extinguishers, polymers, carpet backing, textile dyeing and conditioning, photography, lubricants, anti-freeze, and personal hygiene products, to mention just a few applications.

Applications
  • Zinc Acetate is used as a catalyst in the production of polyesters, polyamides, polyether and vinyl acetate, in the in manufacture of acrylic emulsions, phenolic foam for thermal insulation, and alkyds.
  • Zinc Acetate can also be used as a PVC blowing agent, a wood preservative, in textile dyeing, as well as in the waterproofing of textiles, paper and leather.
  • Amongst other pharmaceutical applications, Zinc Acetate is used in the production of antibiotics, insulin, creams and lotions and in mouth rinses.
  • It is used for shrinking and insect proofing of wool.

  • Zinc Acetate is used as a polyamide catalyst and in the polymerization of vinyl esters.
