Chemigation

Fulcrum may be applied through drip (trickle), sprinkler, flood (basin), furrow, or border irrigation systems. California only: Do not apply Fulcrum through any type of irrigation system

NOTE: If user is not familiar with application of FULCRUM through an irrigation system, apply to a small area with only a few plants to make sure a uniform and even application is being delivered. Do not apply FULCRUM through any type of irrigation system when applying for control of foliar insects. Apply FULCRUM through overhead irrigation at rates stated in this label to provide proper coverage of all surfaces when treating for fungus gnats and shore flies. Overhead irrigation systems include overhead sprinklers such as impact or micro-sprinklers, mist-type irrigation such as fog systems and hand-held calibrated irrigation equipment such as hand-held wand with injector. Do not apply FULCRUM through any other type of irrigation system.

Applications & Uses

Application Technique
Mode Of Action

Fulcrum interferes with the key molting hormone, ecdysone, which prevents insects from progressing from one life stage to the next.

Use Sites
  • Foliage plants
  • Ground cover
  • Flowering plants
  • Non-bearing fruit, nut trees
  • Ornamental trees
  • Ornamental plants
  • Shrubs
  • Vines
Application Rates

Foliar spray: Spray Fulcrum on a preventative 14-day schedule or at the first sign of insect presence. Foliar spray rates range from 6 to 12 fl. oz. per 100 gallons of water, depending on target insect.
Drench: Use Fulcrum at the rate of 2 fl. oz. per 100 gallons of water. Apply Fulcrum in sufficient water and sufficient duration to distribute evenly to entire treated area.
Apply to moderately moist soils using volumes that thoroughly wet the soil but do not cause significant runoff or drip from pots.

Application
  • Fulcrum controls nymphs/larvae and pupae, and negatively affects development of viable eggs.
  • Fulcrum penetrates the leaf surface of several ornamental plants. Therefore, it is active to the insect when feeding on plant tissue.
  • Apply in early to mid-morning or late afternoon. This is especially important with whitefly adults which are typically sedentary on the undersides of leaves at this time.
  • While adequate coverage is recommended, Fulcrum provides effective control in instances when complete coverage of underside of leaves has not been achieved.
  • Fulcrum has been shown to be effective for foliar applications using Electrostatic Spraying Systems,
  • PulsFog® Systems or other low volume systems.
  • Do not use low volume systems to control soilinhabiting insects such as fungus gnats and shore flies.

FULCRUM RECIPE FOR SUCCESS ON KEY PESTS

Fulcrum should be an integrated part of any insect control program. Fulcrum is compatible with most insecticides and fungicides. Fulcrum will help growers achieve control of tough insect pests as part of a total program.

Insect Application Application comments Rate per 100 gallons General comments
Fungus Gnat / Shore Fly Drench One application per crop cycle 2 fluid ounces Saturate only the top 1” to 1.5” of
soil or media. For optimal control
apply under benches or where
insects tend to breed.
Whitefly Spray Make a second application 14 to
28 days later.
6 to 8 fluid ounces Spray when adult insects are first
observed.
Soft and Hard Scales (including
suppression of mealybugs)
Spray Apply to all plant surfaces to the
point of runoff.
8 to 12 fluid ounces Time applications to coincide with
the crawler stage of the insect.

Tank Mixing

Fulcrum user should adhere to any applicable restrictions on the tank mix product. If the compatibility of tank mix partners are unknown, mixing a small amount of the products in a clear jar is advised prior to mixing a large tank.

Directions For Use

It is a violation of Federal Law to use FULCRUM in a manner inconsistent with its labeling. Do not apply FULCRUM in a way that will contact workers or other persons, either directly or through drift. Only protected handlers may be in the area during application. For any requirements specific to your State or Tribe, consult the agency responsible for pesticide regulation.

Agricultural Use Requirements

Use FULCRUM only in accordance with its labeling and with the Worker Protection Standard, 40 CFR part 170. This Standard contains requirements for the protection of agricultural workers on farms, forests, nurseries and greenhouses, and handlers of agricultural pesticides. It contains requirements for training, decontamination, notification and emergency assistance. It also contains specific statements on this label about personal protective equipment (PPE) and restricted-entry interval. The requirements in this box only apply to uses of FULCRUM that are covered by the Worker Protection Standard. Do not enter or allow worker entry into treated areas during the restricted entry interval (REI) of 12 hours.

PPE required for early entry to treated areas that is permitted under the Worker Protection Standard and that involves contact with anything that has been treated, such as plants, soil or water, is:

  • Coveralls over short-sleeved shirt and short pants, or long sleeved shirt and long pants,
  • Chemical-resistant gloves, such as barrier laminate or viton > 14 mils,
  • Chemical-resistant footwear plus socks
  • Chemical-resistant headgear for overhead exposure.
Non-Agricultural Use Requirements

The requirements in this box apply to uses of this product that are NOT within the scope of the Worker Protection Standard for agricultural pesticides (40 CFR Part 170). The WPS applies when this product is used to produce agricultural plants on farms, forests, nurseries or greenhouses. Keep unprotected persons out of treated areas until sprays have dried.

Technical Details & Test Data

Compatibility

FULCRUM can be used with most insecticides, fungicides and spray adjuvants. When tank mixed with FULCRUM, follow all precautions and restrictions on the label of the other product. When products are being used in a tank mixture for the first time, treat a small number of plants for 2 to 4 weeks and check for injury. If no injury is observed, proceed with planned applications

Safety & Health

Personal Protective Equipment (Ppe)

Some materials that are chemical-resistant to FULCRUM are listed below. If you want more options, follow the instructions for category G on an EPA chemical resistance category selection chart.

  • Coveralls over short-sleeved shirt and short pants, or long sleeved shirt and pants
  • Chemical resistant gloves, such as barrier laminate or viton ≥ 14 mils
  • Chemical-resistant footwear plus socks
  • Chemical-resistant headgear for overhead exposure

Discard clothing and other absorbent materials that have been drenched or heavily contaminated with FULCRUM’s concentrate. Do not reuse them. Follow manufacturer’s instructions for cleaning/maintaining PPE. If no such instructions for washables exist, use detergent and hot water. Keep and wash PPE separately from other laundry.

Precautionary Statements

HAZARDS TO HUMANS AND DOMESTIC ANIMALS

CAUTION Causes skin and eye irritation. Do not get on skin, in eyes or on clothing. Harmful if inhaled, swallowed or absorbed through skin. Avoid contact with skin, eyes or clothing. Avoid breathing vapor or spray mist. Wash thoroughly with soap and water after handling. Remove contaminated clothing and wash clothing before reuse.

User Safety Recommendations
  • Wash hands before eating, drinking, chewing gum, using tobacco or using the toilet.
  • Remove clothing/PPE immediately if pesticide gets inside. Then wash thoroughly and put on clean clothing.
  • Remove PPE immediately after handling FULCRUM. Wash outside of gloves before removing. As soon as possible, wash thoroughly and change into clean clothing.
Environmental Hazards

This pesticide is toxic to fish and aquatic invertebrates. Do not apply directly to water or to areas where surface water is present, or to intertidal areas below the mean high water mark. Drift and runoff from treated areas may be hazardous to aquatic organisms in neighboring areas. Do not contaminate water when disposing of equipment washwaters or rinsate.
