PAT-ADD AF 11 is water-dispersible, but requires strong incorporation forces in order to be properly dispersed. PAT-ADD AF 11 is most suitable for use in high PVC-dispersion paints, flat paints and pigment dispersions.
- Benefits
- Most effective defoamer, so requires only low dosages
- Good shelf stability
- Universal usage for dispersion paints and aqueous colorants
Applications & Uses

- 0.1-0.5%
- Application
Multi-purpose, standard of the series; main defoamer and anti-foaming agent in architectural dispersion paints. Dispersion of hydrophobes in a mineral oil compound.
- Dosage & Addition
The optimal amount of PAT-ADD AF 11 to be used is system related, but generally is between 0,1 and 0,5% PAT-ADD AF 11, calculated on the total weight of paint formulation. The product needs proper incorporation conditions; it is recommended to add part of the required dosage prior to pigment dispersion and the remaining half immediately after dispersion, straight to the mill-base or during let-down, using effective mixing. Improper mixing may result in insufficient defoaming action and may cause side effects such as effecting gloss or film appearance. The optimum concentration to be used depends on the individual requirements and conditions.
