UPRENE UXA-307 is a polyurethane emulsion used for adhesion. Especially, this product is suitable for production of decorated plywood because it excels in adhesion with polyvinylchloride sheet and plywood/canvas, and has excellent creep resistance. And this product is able to be used as an adhesion (creep resistance) improver by blending it to resin emulsion type adhesion such as anion/nonionic type EVA, acryl, SBR and vinyl acetate.

Features & Benefits

Features

UPRENE UXA-307 has the following features:

  • Excels in adhesion with polyvinylchloride sheet and plywood/canvas, and has excellent creep resistance.
  • Exhibits excellent adhesion to adherend such as polyvinylchloride, ABS, nylon and aluminum.
  • Forms excellent water resistance films because this product is a self-emulsifiable polyurethane emulsion containing no surface active agents.
  • Improves water resistant peel strength and creep resistance by using with cross-linking agents such as melamine, isocyanate, epoxy based ones that are dissolved and dispersed to water.
  • Free from risk of ignition and having little adverse effect on air and labor environment because this product is water-based one

Applications & Uses

Application Methods

1. Preparation of coating solution

  • Add acrylic resin emulsion type thickeners or modified polyether type thickeners to this product, if high viscosity is required. When an acrylic resin emulsion type thickener is used, add an acrylic resin emulsion type thickener after previously adding 0.5 wt % of aqueous ammonia (concentration: 28 wt %) to UPRENE UXA-307 and stirring the mixture uniformly
  • When water resistant peel strength and creep resistance are required to improve, add cross-linking agents such as melamine-, isocyanate-, epoxy-based ones that dissolve and disperse to water. Their additive amounts to be applied depend on the kind of cross-linking agents or desired performance. Usually UPRENE UXA-307 should be added 3-10 wt % of melamine-based agents (SUMIMAL M-30W manufactured by Sumitomo Chemical Industry Company Limited), 3-5 wt % of epoxy-based agents and 3-10 wt % of isocyanate-based agents (WX-1543 manufactured by Asahi Kasei Corporation).
  • Adherends may repel coating solution and may not coat uniformly depending on their kinds. We recommend that you should add our products, NAROACTY CL-160 of a nonionic surfactant or SANMORIN OT-70 of an anionic surfactant, to coating solution. Refer to bellow table about their additive amounts.

2. Wet Adhesion Method

  • Adherends should be coated with the coating solution by a spray, a roll coater, or a knife coater.
  • After coating, adhere with another adherend and dry after coating. The drying time to be applied depends on the kind of adherend, however, the standard drying time are 3 days at ambient temperature (20±15 °C) or approx. 3 minutes at 100°C.
