Applications & Uses

Applications

POLSIL® SOLAR is used in the solar panel manufacturing process for stiffening and protecting (flooding) photovoltaic cells in solar panels against impact of climatic factors in the conditions of variable temperatures ranging from -50 to +180°C.

Preparation of Composition

Preparation of Composition

Measure a suitable dose of catalyst and mix thoroughly and slowly (excessively violent mixing may cause considerable aeration of composition). Processing temperatures should range from +15 to +30°C.

Dose of Catalyst

Dose of Catalyst

Polsil® Solar should be hardened using Katalizator Solar in the amount of 6 to 8 parts by weight per 100 parts by weight of Polsil® (the catalyst is most frequently used in the amount of 8 parts by weigh).

Attention! The mixture of Polsil® Solar with the catalyst should be prepared just before use and used up within 45 minutes. Total cross-linking time with 8 parts by weight of the catalyst: maximum 48 hours at air humidity within 40- 60% at room temperature.

Flooding of Photovoltaic Cells

Flooding of Photovoltaic Cells

Place and connect sections of cells on a clean, degreased and leveled sheet of glass. Edges of the sheet of glass should be protected with a frame (e.g. made of aluminum angle sections which should be permanently glued to the glass in order to prevent outflow of silicone. Next, as much as possible, immobilize the pane of glass with the frame and cells and start flooding the cells. Slowly (a thin stream)flood the cells with the previously prepared liquid composition so as to ensure that the silicone self-actingly fills the space between the glass and cells. After complete „flooding” of cells, check for entrapped air bubbles in the poured composition. Gently remove possibly entrapped air bubbles. Leave the flooded solar panel to allow complete cross-linking of the silicone.

Attention! Polsil® Solar is a rubber which cures in contact with air and it must not be tightly closed i.e. with other sheet of glass in order to avoid so-called reversion effect (partial cross-linking). After cross-linking the surface of the panel should be protected by applying 3-5 millimeters layer of silicone rubber Polastosil® M-33 or Polastosil® M-60, and wait for the total cross-linking.
