NACCONOL® 90G is a high-active sodium salt of linear alkylbenzene sulfonic acid, renowned for its high foaming, fast wetting, and emulsification attributes. It finds use in cleaning formulations where foam is desirable and is versatile enough to be used in high-active, powder formulations, as well as construction products like concrete admixtures, firefighting foams, and dust control additives.

Applications

Linear alkylbenzene sulfonates (LAS) are the workhorses of the household, industrial and institutional detergent industries. Stepan's NACCONOL sulfonates are the choice for many dry product and high concentration applications. They provide superior detergency, foaming, wetting and emulsification properties. NACCONOL surfactants are good general-purpose surfactants. They are most often used in high concentration cleaning products for household and industrial use.

Regulatory & Compliance

Certifications & Compliance
Clearances
  • The international inventories (country clearances) of the NACCONOL series products can be found in Section 15 of the Safety Data Sheet (SDS). It is the responsibility of the formulator to review the chemical control regulations for each country where the end-product is intended to be sold or used.
  • The NACCONOL series is available as Kosher Certified.

Safety & Health

Health Effects

NACCONOL sulfonates are moderately to slightly toxic orally (LD50 = 400 - 2000 mg/kg); and cause no skin irritation at 1% concentration. NACCONOL products cause mild to no eye irritation at below 0.1% concentration.

Packaging & Availability

Packaging Type
Standard Packaging

NACCONOL series products are available in drums and bulk quantities.

Storage & Handling

Storage & Handling

Normal safety precautions (e.g., gloves and safety goggles) should be employed when handling the NACCONOL series products. Contact with eyes, nose or prolonged contact with skin should be avoided. Wash thoroughly after handling the NACCONOL series products.

Non-Bulk Storage Recommendations

NACCONOL series products should be stored in closed containers and kept in a cool, dry place away from incompatible materials (see Section 10 of the SDS). Fiber drums are recommended for storage. NACCONOL 90G is hygroscopic; avoid prolonged exposure to air.

Workplace Exposure

Occupational exposure can occur primarily through skin contact or via inhalation of vapors and mists. Engineering controls, personal protective equipment, and other workplace practices should be used to control these exposures.
