Cold Process Adhesive is a balanced blend of premium oxidized asphalt and penetrating oils, further augmented with quality non-asbestos reinforcing fillers. Cold Process Adhesive is a double coverage cement, designed for adhering to built-up roofing systems and modified bitumen membranes.

Uses:

  • Substrate adhesive for built-up roofing systems (asphalt).
  • Interply adhesive for modified bitumen sheets.
  • Flood coat for receiving gravel.

Applications:

  • Ready to apply.
  • Do not heat.
  • Do not thin.
Surface Preparation
  • All work surfaces must be clean, dry, free of dirt, dust, debris, oils, loose and/or embedded gravel, un-adhered coatings, deteriorated membranes, and other contaminants that may result in a surface that is not sound.
  • All necessary repairs must be completed before application to ensure optimum performance.
  • All surfaces must be free of frost, snow and ice.
Application Directions

BUR:

  • Apply at a rate of approximately 2 - 4 gallons per square, depending on the surface irregularities.
  • Roll out and embed the first ply.
  • Apply an additional layer or adhesive at an interply rate of 1 - 2 gallons per square, followed by another ply sheet.
  • Repeat, until the desired number of plies is achieved.
  • Topcoat at a rate of 2 gallons per square if a glaze coat is desired; or use 4 - 6 gallons per square to apply gravel or mineral surfacing.

Modified Bitumen:

  • Apply to the prepared surface at a rate of approximately 1 - 2 gallons per square, depending on the surface irregularities.
  • Roll out and embed the modified bitumen sheet.
  • Broom into place, assuring that the membrane conforms to the surface and that no bridging or air pockets exist.
  • Open time is 30 - 45 minutes; dry time is 6 - 8 hours to touch.
Application Precautions
  • Do not use with or on 100% rubber or plastic substrates.
  • Do not use on or with products containing coal tar.
  • Do not apply to damp or wet surfaces.
  • Do not use where this product may come in contact with potable water.
  • Do not thin.
  • Exterior use only.
Clean Up
  • Immediately rinse/flush equipment and tools with mineral spirits after use, exercising all flammable liquid precautions.
  • Use waterless hand cleaner on the skin.
