Storage & Handling

Safe Handling

All personnel that handle or work with VelsiflexTM plasticizers should wear standard personal protective equipment including safety glasses or goggles, long sleeve shirts and gloves that are plasticizer resistant. An eye wash and safety shower station should be located in close proximity to the work area

Storage & Transfer

VelsiflexTM dibenzoate plasticizers can be shipped to customers in unlined carbons steel drums, HDPE IBCs, stainless steel isotanks or stainless steel trucks. Store all VelsiflexTM dibenzoate plasticizers away from excessive heat, sources of ignition and other noncompatible materials. Indoor storage areas should be equipped with appropriate fire prevention measures in place. Carbon steel, 316 SS or 304 SS are acceptable materials of construction for all storage vessels, pumps, piping, valves and filters, etc. Fawn Gylon or Teflon envelope gaskets are recommended. Centrifugal pumps with a mechanical seal or mag drive pumps can be used. At temperatures below 30C (86F), positive displacement pumps are recommended. Storage tanks should be nitrogen padded and the tank should be equipped with a conservation vent. Recommended storage temperature is 24-38C (75-100F).

55 Gallon Drums: Unlined carbon steel drums can be used for shipping. The drum bungs should be kept tightly secured until the product is used to prevent moisture from entering the drum which could affect product quality.

275 Gallon IBCs: IBCs constructed of HDPE supported in a metal cage are suitable for shipping. The IBCs top opening should be kept tightly secured until the product is used to prevent moisture from entering the drum which could affect product quality.

Isotanks: Isotanks are made from 316 stainless steel and are supported in a heavy gage carbon steel frame. The tanks are generally used for ocean shipment. Isotanks can be unloaded either by utilization of an unloading pump or by direct nitrogen pressure depending on the valve configuration of the tank. Ensure the tank is equipped with a pressure relief device. Do not apply more pressure than the device is rated for during the unloading process.

Trailers: Trailers are made from 316 stainless steel. Trailers can be unloaded either by utilization of an unloading pump or by direct nitrogen pressure depending on the valve configuration of the tank. Ensure the tank is equipped with a pressure relief device. Do not apply more pressure than the device is rated for during the unloading process.
