American Biosystems SUPER AN Fermentation Product is a highly concentrated blend of beneficial fungal enzymes for inclusion in pelleted animal feeds or as a top-dressed ingredient. Aspergillus niger is a source of a wide variety of industrial and agricultural enzymes including Pectinase, hemi-cellulase, beta-glucanase, endo-glucanase, cellulase and xylanase. Fungal Amylase is an alpha amylase enzyme preparation produced by Aspergillus oryzae. It is available as a liquid or as a powder formulation. This rapid acting hydrolase is active throughout the acidic pH range, through the neutral pH range and well into the mildly alkaline range. It readily degrades a wide variety of starch-containing substrates. This product is not extremely heat-resistant compared with enzymes from bacterial sources, but exhibits adequate heat resistance for many industrial and most agricultural applications where its pH range is often complementary to alpha amylase from bacterial sources.

Although the fungal alpha amylase present in Super AO is not capable of surviving in pelleting, the ingredient is still usefull in pelleted feeds. The product contains UGF’s (unidentified growth factors) which appear to improve microbial fermentation in vitro and in vivo in a variety of scientific publications. Super AO can be specifically assayed for this component and these growth factors are extremely resistant to heat experienced in pelleting. The addition of Super AO to a soy based diet allows for the degradation of oligiocaccharides such as raffinose and stachyose and a decrease in trypsin inhibitor. Larger protein molecules are degraded allowing for higher levels of amino acids such as lysine, methionine, and tyrosine.
