Elekeiroz is a Brazilian company in the chemical industry that has been operating for over a century. It was founded in 1894 as Queiroz Moura & Cia., a laboratory for vegetal extract-based products. In 1909, it became a statutory partnership association and built the first Sulphuric Acid plant in Latin America. The company changed its name to Elekeiroz S.A. in 1912. In 1969, it opened its capital to public subscription, and in 1986, Itaúsa - Investimentos Itaú S.A. took over shareholder control. Elekeiroz has been a pioneer in manufacturing various chemicals, including Phthalic Anhydride, Carbon Disulphide, Trimethylol Propane, 2-Ethyl Hexanoic Acid, 2-Ethyl Hexyl Alcohol, and n-Butanol. These chemicals are produced using technology based on Ethyl Alcohol derived from sugar cane.

Primex Color, Compounding & Additives was originally founded in 1957 in New York as Frank V. O’Neil Color. Mr. O’Neil grew the company at a time when plastics were just becoming commercialized. He relocated several times due to the growth of the custom colorants market, with his final plant being located in Garfield, NJ, just west of New York City. The Garfield facility was purchased by Primex Plastics Corporation in 1988 to serve their colorant needs in the rapidly expanding sheet extrusion market, in addition to continuing the growth of its external color concentrate business. Primex history includes acquiring a second manufacturing plant in Jasper, Tennessee, 20 miles northwest of Chattanooga, in 1993.
