Resinoid was founded by Clarence A. Herbst Sr. (1900 to 1989). Mr. Herbst was a chemical engineer who designed and formulated phenolics in the early age of plastics; this creativity led to starting two small companies in the late 1920's and early 1930's. The Spolana production plant is the only manufacturer of PVC (sold under the name of Neralit®) and caprolactam in the Czech Republic. The company also manufactures industrial fertiliser during the manufacture of caprolactam and containing nitrogen in ammonium form and sulphur in the form of sulphuric anhydride. The fertiliser is sold under the name of Spolsan® and is manufactured in crystalline and granulated form.
