Deltech
Deltech Monomers para-Methylstyrene (PMS)
Chemical Name:
3-Methylstyrene, p-Methylstyrene
Chemical Family:
Styrenics
Deltech para-Methylstyrene (PMS) is recommended for evaluation as a replacement for vinyltoluene and styrene monomers. It shares similar chemical properties and polymerization behavior with both vinyltoluene and styrene. When used as a partial or complete replacement for styrene monomer in unsaturated polyester resin applications, polymerized resin products exhibit lower vapor pressure at any temperature and a higher flashpoint. Additionally, PMS offers advantages such as lower shrinkage during molding, improved thermal properties, and greater tensile strength in glass-filled applications.

Cepsa Chemicals
Cepsa Chemicals Alpha Methylstyrene (AMS)
Chemical Name:
Alpha Methyl Styrene (AMS)
CAS Number:
98-83-9
Functions:
Intermediate, Solvent
Chemical Family:
Styrenics, Aromatics
Synonyms:
1-Methyl-1-Phenylethylene, 2-Phenyl Propylene, 2-Phenylpropane, 2-Phenylpropene, alpha-Methyl Styrene, AMS, Isopropenyl Benzene, Isopropyl Benzene, α-Methylstyrene
Cepsa Chemicals Alpha Methylstyrene (AMS) is a colorless liquid organic chemical employed in the production of a wide range of styrenic polymers. AMS is the result of splitting cumene hydroperoxide with sulfuric acid. Cumene itself is obtained through the catalytic alkylation of benzene with propylene. AMS is primarily used in the manufacturing of Acrylonitrile Butadiene Styrene (ABS), a thermoplastic resin, and finds applications in various industries, including coatings, food, and cosmetics.
