CompositeWrap™ BDC20 Carbon Fabric is a medium weight, high tensile strength bidirectional carbon fabric. This material is engineered to provide extremely strong, durable and lightweight composites for structural reinforcement. CompositeWrap™ BDC20 Carbon Fabric is easy to apply, corrosion resistant and can be applied at any thickness required to provide adequate structural reinforcement. It easily wets out and can be installed using the wet lay-up technique.

HexTow® IM8 carbon fiber is a continuous, high performance, intermediate modulus, PAN based fiber available in 12,000 (12K) filament count tows. This fiber has been surface treated and can be sized to improve its interlaminar shear properties, handling characteristics, and structural properties. It is suggested for use in prepregging, filament winding, braiding, and pultrusion where additional strength and modulus are required over IM7.

HexTow® 85 carbon fiber is a continuous, PAN based fiber available in 24,000 (24K) filament count tows. This fiber was developed specifically as a cost-effective replacement of rayon-based carbon fiber for ablative applications. The method in which it is processed results in a PAN-based carbon fiber that delivers equivalent strength and ablative performance to traditional rayon-based carbon fiber in carbon-carbon composite structures. Composite and carbon-carbon ablative data are currently being generated to compare HexTow® 85 performance to historical rayon databases. HexTow® 85 is manufactured in the United States from U.S.-produced PAN precursor, ensuring a reliable supply chain for ablative materials used on US military applications.

Produced from 100% ZOLTEK OX oxidized PAN fibers and later carbonized in our vacuum furnaces, ZOLTEK PX35 carbon felt is widely used. HexTow® HM63 carbon fiber is a continuous, high strength, high performance, high modulus, PAN based carbon fiber available in 12,000 (12K) filament count tows. This fiber has been surface treated and sized to improve its handling characteristics, interlaminar shear strength, compressive strength, and structural properties. It is suggested for use in aerospace, space, premium sporting goods, and industrial applications. The unique properties of HexTow® HM63 fiber, such as higher tensile strength and modulus, as well as shear and compressive strength, allow structural designers to achieve both higher safety margins for both stiffness and strength critical applications.

HexTow® HM63 carbon fiber is a continuous, high strength, high performance, high modulus, PAN based carbon fiber available in 6,000 (6K) and 12,000 (12K) filament count tows. This fiber has been surface treated and sized to improve its handling characteristics, interlaminar shear strength, compressive strength, and structural properties. It is suggested for use in premium sporting goods and industrial applications. HexTow® HM63 is International Monohull Open Class Association (IMOCA) certified/ qualified.

ZOLTEK PX35 continuous carbon fiber is manufactured from polyacrylonitrile (PAN) precursor. The consistency in yield and mechanical properties that are provided by large filament count strands gives the user the ability to design and manufacture composite materials with greater confidence and allows for efficient and fast buildup of carbon fiber reinforced composite structures. ZOLTEK PX35 50K fibers are available with a variety of sizing formats for different composite processing methods and for compatibility with a wide range of standard resin systems. ZOLTEK quality focuses on spool to spool consistency yielding low coefficients of variation.

ZOLTEK produces uni-directional (UD) prepreg tapes based on ZOLTEK carbon fiber. ZOLTEK prepreg is ideal for large-volume composite applications where high production throughput, excellent composite properties, and low material cost are important. A wide selection of epoxy resin formulations meet most processing and composite property requirements for tack, toughness, surface finish, cure time, cure temperature, and delivered composite strength and modulus. Custom formulations are also available. ZOLTEK prepreg properties, such as fiber areal weight (FAW), resin content, and width, are readily adjusted to exactly meet customer requirements. Packaging options include core size, customer specified knitting requirements, and custom labeling. ZOLTEK prepreg production is geared to large volumes and low cost. Special projects are welcomed.

ZOLTEK’s Type-83 chopped fiber format has high bulk density values which allow for cleaner and more consistent flow rates, compact pellet form maintains its integrity from the package, into, and through the hopper and distributes easily during compounding, improving process and product performance and has excellent mechanical and electrical properties.

ZOLTEK’s PX35 Flake Type chopped fibers provide ready impregnation of thermoset resins, with the capability to mold complex shapes. The resultant carbon fiber/ resin matrix composites offer high strength-to-weight and stiffness-to-weight ratios. Zoltek PX35 Flake Type chopped fibers may also be used as a low-cost alternative in thermoplastic applications, whereby a small portion of the matrix-specific product can be replaced with chopped flake carbon fibers with negligible impact to composite properties.

Zoltek has developed a new product and sizing chemistry for use in vinyl ester resin systems. Introducing Zoltek’s PX35 Vinyl Ester Compatible Tow product. This new product, based on our proprietary sizing chemistry, exhibits excellent adhesion to and compatibility with vinyl ester resin systems. Most carbon fiber products are used to reinforce epoxy resin systems. Recently, the demand has grown for a product and sizing chemistry that can be used in vinyl ester resins whether cured thermally or via room temperature infusion. When compared to Zoltek’s standard carbon fiber product, PX35 Epoxy Compatible Tow, the new vinyl ester compatible product has significantly higher interlaminar shear strength (ILSS) and transverse flexural strength TFS, which both measure and indicate fiber to resin matrix compatibility and adhesion, as well as, composite performance. Zoltek’s PX35 Vinyl Ester Compatible Continuous Carbon Fiber is manufactured from a polyacrylonitrile (PAN) precursor fiber. The consistency in yield and mechanical properties that are provided by large filament count strands gives the user flexibility to design and manufacture composite materials.

C-TAPE™ U1000P 24K HS FT* is a unidirectional carbon fiber tape with a continuous weft, with a total weight of 1006 gsm. It is made using 24K HS carbon fiber. HexTow® PAN based carbon fiber is available in 1/4 inch chopped fiber lengths, sized for compatibility with various resin matrix systems and processes. The chopped product is small, thin, rectangular flake, 1/4 inch long by 1/8 to 1/4 inch wide. The individual filaments are lightly held together by the sizing and will break apart during subsequent processing. The specially formulated sizing systems, in addition to improving bonding, produce a higher bulk density that aids in blending operations and in the flow through mechanical feed systems. Addition of chopped carbon fiber to molding compounds produces a material that exhibits high strength and modulus, excellent fatigue and creep resistance, low thermal expansion, electrical and thermal conductivity, excellent friction and wear resistance, and low shrinkage.
