KURARAY POVAL™ 49-88 by Kuraray is a partially saponified polyvinyl alcohol (PVOH) grade. This grade is water-soluble polymer manufactured by alcoholysis of polyvinyl acetate. It is used as an adhesive promoter. It is suitable for modification of emulsion adhesives and remoistenable adhesives in the paper processing industry. It is used in postage stamps and labels. Aqueous solution of KURARAY POVAL™ 49-88 can be added to polymer emulsion which is already stabilized with polyvinyl alcohol to extend the open time, increase setting speed and influence the rheology. Its shelf life is 12 months. Complies with EU Directive 67/548/EC regulation.

It shows resistance against organic solvents and dispersing power. KURARAY POVAL™ 44-88 is used in water-based pressure-sensitive labels and remoistenable adhesives. It is designed for paper processing industry and films.
