Nicron® 674 is an ultra-fine, high-purity microcrystalline talc. It is insoluble in mineral acids, hydrophobic, and non-abrasive to compounding and processing equipment. Nicron® 674 is used in a wide variety of applications, including interior/exterior coatings, color concentrates, adhesives, sealants, and thermoplastic polymers.

Mistron® 604 is a high-purity microcrystalline talc with more than 98% talc content. The lamellar nature of Mistron® 604 enhances film strength and flexibility and provides barrier properties in architectural and industrial primers and topcoats to improve corrosion resistance and stain-blocking ability.

Minex® ST 4 A100-10 is a functional filler that is produced from nepheline syenite, a naturally occurring, silica-deficient sodium-potassium alumina silicate. Automated scanning electron microscopy confirms that Minex® ST grades contain less than one-tenth of one percent crystalline silica. No free crystalline silica is detectable in the mineral complex. All Minex® ST grades are processed and sized with rigid adherence to Covia’s QIPSM quality assurance programs.

VANSIL® WG Wollastonite is a high aspect ratio, long needle grade of wollastonite. It is used principally as a mineral filler and reinforcing agent to enhance mechanical strength properties in high build coatings, texture paint, and block fillers. In high film build coatings, the needle-like shape of VANSIL WG improves mud crack resistance and sag resistance, while also contributing to peak retention in texture coatings. The naturally high pH of wollastonite helps to buffer latex paints and coatings, which contributes to improved corrosion resistance and weathering. This also extends in-can stability and prolongs the lifetime of the coating. In calcium silicate board and fiber cement, VANSIL WG increases flexural and compressive strength, reduces shrinkage, and reduces cracking. It is recommended that high aspect ratio grades of VANSIL be added late in process to avoid possible damage to the needle structure from high shear mixing.

PYRAX® WA Pyrophyllite is a unique natural mixture of platy silicates, principally pyrophyllite, and quartz. PYRAX WA has a coarser particles size than PYRAX B. As a replacement for mica, PYRAX WA is an excellent filler in joint compounds and dry wall muds. PYRAX WA imparts mud crack resistance to high build coatings such as texture paints and block fillers. PYRAX WA is a good inert filler for use in contractor flat paints, where it contributes to improved low angle sheen control and scrub resistance. When used in exterior paints, the neutral pH of pyrophyllite yields reduced frosting.

Barimite XF also offers excellent sanding resist ance, and good scrub resistance to formulations.Barimite XF is chemically inert and is an excellent choice as a filler in corrosion resistant applications, flame retardant applications, and applications that require excellent weather resistance. Moreover, Barimite XF exhibits superior thermal stabilty up to 1580 °C. It is therefore recommended for use in heat resistant applications. Barimite XF helps increase heat distortion temperatures, and reduces compound stickiness.
