BayGranite™ is an inorganic hydrated alumina designed for use in polymer systems as a flame retardant and smoke supressive additive. BayGranite® 17 is more accurately designated chemically as aluminum trihydroxide, Al(OH)3, and is produced through processing of alumina-bearing feedstocks. Although BayGranite® 17 is a dry powder, when heated above approximately 220°C it decomposes into approximately 35% water and 65% alumina by weight. BayGranite®17 is a nonabrasive, low density material with a Mohs hardness index of 2.5 - 3.5 and a specific gravity of 2.42. Almatis BayGranite®17 ATH is compatible with polymer systems, and is designed for applications that require low-soda ATH products.

Intumax AC 2BG is a new revolutionary flame retardant / intumescent agent. Intumax AC 2BG is a special version of AC 2, and is ideal for incorporation into thermoset coatings and foams, potting compounds, fiberglass reinforced structures, as well as electronic laminates and many other applications. Intumax AC 2BG has been proven successful in epoxy, phenolic, acrylic, vinyl acetate, urethane and PVC resin systems. When blended into your resin system, Intumax AC 2BG will react to heat and or flame to foam and form a thick, high yield char barrier. The char barrier will extinguish fire and prevent further flame spread. Additionally, the char foam insulates and protects the coated substrate from heat and fire damage. Intumax AC 2BG is halogen free and does not evolve the highly toxic and corrosive gasses associated with many other fire retardants. AC 2BG does all this at loading levels of only 10-20%.

FlameGard™ is a ground Bayer hydrated alumina designed for specific application in polymeric adhesive backing of tufted carpeting to provide a level of flame retardancy to the carpet system. It is specially ground to maintain relatively coarse particle distributions in the median range of 22 to 26 microns and provides a high loading potential in high viscosity backing compounds. FlameGard ATH has a slight off-white or ivory color that is acceptable in most applications.
