5052 and 5056 expanded aerospace grade aluminum honeycomb materials are available in a wide selection of cell sizes and foil gages. The HexWeb® CR-PAA coating has been developed to offer superior protection for aluminum honeycomb exposed to corrosive environments. The HexWeb® CR-PAA system offers a clear protective film that interacts with the aluminum surface forming a stable, tightly adherent bond.

Aluminum Flex-Core® honeycomb utilizes either 5052 or 5056 alloy foil material and is available in two cell sizes. FlexCore® has unique cell configurations that significantly reduce anticlastic behavior and permit small radii of curvature without deformation of the cell walls or loss of mechanical properties. Aluminum Flex-Core® has been developed to allow the designer and fabricator freedom in the utilization of honeycomb for components requiring simple and compound curvatures. Highly contoured sandwich panels such as leading edges and flaps, nacelles, fairings, doors, and access covers, and other parabolic, spherical, and cylindrical shapes are prime Flex-Core® candidates. Duplicate die model and control tooling for aerospace use are also examples of Flex-Core® Applicationss. As with standard aluminum honeycomb, Flex-Core® provides controlled crush characteristics without rebound and thus curved energy absorption units become feasible and economical.

PAA-SHH® PAA-SHH® (Phosphoric Acid Anodized-Showa Hexagonal Honeycomb) 1/8-5052-001 is an aerospace grade 5052 aluminum honeycomb materials produced from phosphoric acid anodized aluminum sheets. Phosphoric acid anodize gives an excellent corrosion resistance to aluminum alloy, and the surface treatment system with a corrosion prohibited primer provide the greatest bondability and fatigue strength under critical conditions such as hot & wet condition. PAA-SHH is available in a wide selection of cell sizes and foil thickness.

PAA-SDFH® PAA-SDFH® (Phosphoric Acid Anodized-Showa Double Flexible Honeycomb) 4.8-5052-47 is an aerospace grade 5052 aluminum honeycomb materials produced from phosphoric acid anodized aluminum sheets. Phosphoric acid anodize gives an excellent corrosion resistance to aluminum alloy, and the surface treatment system with a corrosion prohibited primer provide the greatest bondability and fatigue strength under critical conditions such as hot & wet condition. PAA-SDFH is available in two selections of core density and foil thickness.

Designed to offer industrial users and designers high strength-to-weight properties at relatively low cost, aluminum honeycomb is particularly suitable as a shear carrying core in adhesively bonded sandwich panel assemblies.

Corrosion resistant HexWeb® Rigicell™ is manufactured by bonding together corrugated sheets of treated 5052 aluminum. This process allows fabrications of much higher density honeycomb than is possible by the expansion process. The node bond adhesive is a thermosetting type. Slices are cut from the corrugated block to specified thickness, length, and width.

The HexWeb® CR III system offers a clear protective film that interacts with the aluminum surface forming a stable, tightly adherent bond. The coating is primarily an organometallic polymer type that differs from the normal conversion-type corrosion protective coatings.
