The Fluorosilicone used in the manufacturing process is a premium polymer providing excellent chemical and fuel resistance. Using polyester as the re-enforcement substrate provides good stability for the fluorosilicone in dynamic applications. Robbins Rubber Nitrile Rubber Sheets also known as Buna-N, is a synthetic rubber copolymer of acrylonitrile (ACN) and butadiene. Nitrile is a form of synthetic rubber that is generally resistant to oil, fuel, and other chemicals (the more nitrile within the polymer, the higher the resistance to oils but the lower the flexibility of the material). It is used in the automotive and aeronautical industry to make fuel and oil handling hoses, seals, grommets, and self-sealing fuel tanks since ordinary rubbers cannot be used.

RL292 can withstand constant temperature extremes of -65˚ F to 450˚ F (-54˚ C to 232˚ C) with brief excursions to 600˚ F (316˚ C).
